Pages: 1

Words: 295

Essay

Communication of risk countermeasures strategies to the external parties of a project such as suppliers and other business stakeholders is cardinal for the success of a business. The flow of information to the external parties is very important to ensure that there is awareness on risk mitigation measures. However, the challenging aspect of communicating the risk mitigation strategies to external support team is on the choice of appropriate communication tools that can be used to discern information. The tool chosen should be evaluated on the basis of cost and efficiency. Very expensive tools of communication may interfere with the passage of information to the parties (Harrison, 2009).

Some of the methods that can be used to communicate include online communication whereby the information can be sent to the support team through internet. Online methods such as emails have been found to be very fast and less costly as compared to physical letters. Online technologies such as WizeHive allow project managers to share information with suppliers and other external members of the project. WizeHive has been used by organizations to share files, tasks, calendars and notes. The tool can therefore be used by project managers to share information on the risk factors that affect the development of the project (Harrison, 2009).

A project manager can also communicate the risk mitigation strategies to the external support team through video conferencing equipment that enables the manager to communicate with the people in different locations. It is cognizance to note that in the contemporary world technological tools of communication have overwhelmed traditional models of communicating risks. The former are very fast, reliable, accurate and greatly reduces the cost involved when sending information one location to another.
