Introduction
Communism is a government system characterized by equality in terms of wealth and class. The government owns all industries thus denying people the capability of becoming rich. People were accorded the same treatment and driven to wallow in poverty.
Communism was an economic failure: The practice of communism failed to recognize that the country’s economy depends on the principles of demand and supply. The Soviet Union Government ruled through dictatorship. It forced its citizens to consume what they did not need at the allocated time. The government did not produce enough supplies for its citizens, and it produced substandard products for its people. This led to a state of diseconomies of scale because it spent extra resource to produce substandard goods.
As much it provides equal opportunities and treatment, it is not applicable in real life. The truth is that people are not equal. Some people may be comfortable with their lives as farmers while others prefer being bankers. The system is only applicable in theory but not in real life situations.
Lack of incentives is the main reason why communism because it failed to provide equal share to everyone. The Soviet Union faced shortages since the workers were not motivated to work hard. Unlike in a capitalist society whereby an individual would be fired for not working hard, in the communism society, as long as an individual did something he would get an equal share as the others. This resulted to an attitude of “why bother.”
Good idea but badly implemented: The system of communism was implemented in the wrong way. Since it considers all its citizens to be assets of the nation, each person had equal rights. The system failed in the Soviet Union because it gave too much priority to the state security than any other individual. This made individuals have no personal rights
Communism is against ownership of private property by individuals: It fails because it denies people the right to create goals and forces them to work in shared goals. Most countries have used violence to impose communism and forced individuals to adapt to the system regardless of how they feel. If people were given the freedom to form their own goals, then they would have their own values based on their own goals. People in much smaller communities have equal shares of shared goals. Systems such as communism fail when implemented in an extreme form. Consider communism in China. Its recent gravitation towards adopting capitalism, systems of government has enabled them to have an enormous economic strength over the world. When they were still under communism system, they suffered horrible economic devastations.
Poor adaptation: The dictatorial nature of the Soviet Government accelerated to the failure of the communism system, so the notion that communism failed could be regarded as misleading. Factors that contributed to its failure include the extreme political corruption in the nation. In addition, there was the issue of extensive competition with America. This was characterized by the Western countries carrying out sabotage on the interest of socialist all over the world.
Communism does not recognize human nature. According to nature, human beings may not have an equal share of workload in a fair manner. Communism assumes that the government works on behalf of the people, in the real sense this does not happen. Any time that a country that works with communism system rises, it normally receives opposition from capitalistic countries. Immediately after WW1, America, Britain, and France conspired together and sent troops to Russia in a collaborated effort aimed at undermining the Russian revolution. This led to the failure too.
