Pages: 1

Words: 243

Essay

Community policing is a welcomed initiative, as it is a solution that will serve to improve the effectiveness of the policing service in a broad as well as a specific aspect of the police department. The use of community policing is an effective manner of improving the element of security in the different communities and reduce the crime rates that are evident in the residential areas. The community police can deal with any other domestic problems that may arise almost instantly.

Efficiency has proven to be a major problem as far as the police department is concerned. Arriving too late at a crime scene has proven to be a regular occurrence and in some cases the culprits get away with their crimes. The introduction of community policing and patrols will serve to eliminate this problem, as their patrolling will enhance the response time of police in dealing with burglaries as well as other criminal activities.

The use of community policing can serve as a solution regarding the reduction of terrorist attacks. A number of terror suspects have been considered to reside in residential housing and it is where they plan and scheme their terrorist attacks. Community policing can reduce this factor in which the individuals can feel intimidate by the police prescreens and re-locate, and this could help avoid a terrorist attack. Therefore I believe that the community policing will be an ideal initiative that will only serve to increase the security in residential areas.
