Essay

Background of Research

Different brands of vitamin c supplements are noted to be out in the market. Almost all of these particular choices say that they provide the most accurate and most effective source of vitamins that the body needs especially for the sake of developing better and stronger immune system. Relatively though, most of them promise highly defined results that would best benefit the people who are taking them. In a way, the only difference that redefines these vitamin C supplements as they are offered in the market is that of the pricing that identifies with them. This has personably gotten my interest. For this particular experimental research, I would be conducting a survey-like form of experiment that would allow me to see the different makeup of three specific brands of vitamin C supplements thus allowing me to judge which of these supplements would best provide the vitamins that individuals need [depending on their age, their weight, their height and their physical status as well]. This experiment hopes to seek a better understanding on how particular brands of vitamin c supplements are expected to affect the human body; making one of them better than the other when it comes to dealing with specific health requirements.

Research Question

What makes up a vitamin C supplement and how does it help the body as expected?

Hypothesis

To further identify the value of the vitamins, it would be important to take note of prices of each  brand depending on how they are offered to prospective buyers. Since they are supplements, companies releasing this particular brands of vitamin supplements need to see to it that they are able to market these particular health support factors effectively; especially when it comes to measuring what the individuals actually need [especially considering their personal health status]. For the course of this experiment, one hypothesis is aimed to be proven:

  • that the higher the price of the multivitamin, the higher is its vitamin contents
  • that the lower the price of the multivitamin, the lesser is its content and the weaker is its effect on the human body

Variables

The variables to be affected in this particular research-experiment would be:

Dependent Variables: The content of the chosen vitamin c supplements

Independent Variables: The condition of reaction that the components of the vitamins would have on the experimental procedures that are to be undergone by each vitamin for testing

Materials list

  • Three primary brands of vitamin C supplements
  • Water
  • Cooling tube
  • Bunsen burner

 Procedure

The procedure of the experimentation shall take a much more considerable essence of separating the different components of a mixture. This procedure could be imagined as follows:

As described in the illustration, each tablet would be liquefied to separate the components that make up the whole vitamin. The supposed salt water in the illustration is to be substituted into a setup where the vitamins is to be put in water whereas the component to be left in the steaming tube would be examined further for its makeup, hopefully allowing the experimental research the capacity to identify what makes up specific multivitamin brands that are to be tested in this project.

Plan for data processing

To process the data with regards the procedures adapted for this experiment, a written record of observations shall be put to good use. Necessarily, these notes would be used as basis of comparison that the researcher would use as to how each component would be able to affect the human body as based from outside sources that are to be used to confirm or strengthen the value of the results yielded from this experiment.

The extraction of components as suggested in this experiment is expected to yield a specific term of realization that would create a more constructive process of determining how the factors that make up vitamins are able to support the need of the human body for such elements. To make sure that the comparison is valid and realistic, a cross referencing of data and references researched shall be handled. This will help support the results garnered from the experiment especially in terms of creating a distinct sense of determination on how expansive examples are able to provide a constructive indication on the components of particular vitamin brands are able to give what the human body needs. The statistical measurement to be used to analyze the data would the Canonical Correlation Analysis which is aimed at measuring the different components of each vitamin C supplement tablet to be observed for the completion of the experiment.

Conclusion

What makes this experiment interesting is that it gives a good sense of recognizing how particular branded vitamins makeup their products. The fact that the only basis of comparison used by the market is the price marking that each vitamin is noted for, this experiment shall yield a better form of development on how consumers ought to be advised especially on what specific brand actually gives them what they expect from the product, thus giving them better results that would allow them to understand how constant the procedures of development in the body would be based on the components that make up the whole vitamin they take in. In this case, this exploration of elements would be able to give a firm foundation that would help consumers better in deciding what vitamin brand to buy in the market.
