Computer User Interface Unit 5 DB, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 346

Essay

Introduction

User interface should be friendly to facilitate users operation since they are just end-users who do not have internal know how of the system. User interface should be simple and intuitive to enhance users’ application. Since users are not developers of programs, installation should be made easier and intuitive (David, 2000).

To enhance the usability and implementation of this software forensic tool; the team must undertake a number of changes and improvement. First improvement must concentrate on making the tool user-friendly. Users’ complain of it not being intuitive; the team needs to provide user documentation or help to assist in operation. To avoid its complexity during installation, auto run application should be implemented and user’s guide during installation provided. Installation processes should be automated and steps reduced to enhance the process (Rubin, 1994). The tool should be provided through a medium that facilitate auto play or auto run application to ease installation. The second improvement would be protection and privileges concern. To protect accidental deletion and changes on the screen without users noticing; restriction of rights will protect them from such accident. Giving the end-users restricted rights of usage, which allows them to operate without making changes. The above changes would improve the usability of the forensic tool and avoid unnecessary accidents. The changes are necessary since they form the platform for any user interface. In addition, every software, or tool needs documentation to assist users to operate the software well (Blaauw, Brooks, & Frederick, 2001).

Conclusion

Every software or application is expected to be user friendly that is why the improvements, which seem to enhance this is recommendable. Documentation, auto run application and users’ rights and privileges are common checks for friendly user interface. Interface links users’ application with the system interface through hardware components to enable data processing and information display.
