Conflict Resolution Module

Stress and strife can cause difficulties in the group’s ability to stay on task and be productive together. When problems arise there needs to be a plan implemented to quickly stop the problem and lead the team back in productivity. The following guidelines addressing team dynamics, conflict resolution leadership, and motivation and confidence, are proposed to be used during such times.

Team Dynamics

Each person on a team may have different talents and varying levels of skill in different areas. To use this to the team’s advantage, individuals should use their differences in a positive way. Besides individuals, reaching out to other teams and departments can be useful as they also have different skill sets and may be more knowledgeable on certain tasks that need to be handled.

The current matter shows a need for various team members to show their strength in their respective areas to get the remainder of the project work done as efficiently as possible. For instance, the programmers that understand the new programming language better should help the other programmers with their work as much as possible. This way, the programmers that are having difficulties will be able to learn from their mistakes and get through the programming more quickly.

Conflict Resolution Leadership

There have been many setbacks with this project. The clients have changed what they initially wanted, other departments lack some of the resources we could otherwise use to get finished up faster, the new programming code is difficult to write and test, and all of this has unfolded during a major family holiday. Yet, all these issues have solutions.

We are to be working overtime to complete this project. Overtime will not only allow increased time to complete the project, but will allow the time needed to get it done without errors due to rushing. We will try to discover what other departments may be able to help us complete so that we may reach our goal, and what we cannot distribute, we will work on during our overtime hours. To combat the leave that employees have taken over the holiday, we will make sure that leave corresponds with our project schedule.

Motivation and Confidence

This is a big and important project that still has major work to be done before it will be completed. This calls for motivation and having confidence that the team will be able to get it done and within goal. An important thing to look at, is what has already been accomplished despite all the pitfalls and obstacles that the team has already faced. The team needs to be reminded that their supervisors acknowledge and appreciate how hard they are working on the project.

The team members will be working overtime on the project and it is suggested that the managers to be present in the office as well. Not only to keep the workers on task and motivated, but also to show that they are team players and want to get the project completed as well.

Using the above guidelines, we should have no problem in completing the project within the timeframe that we have discussed with the client. Through communication and motivation within the team, its members will succeed in this project and be able to reference their togetherness and hard work when the next big project arrives on our worktables.
