Convent of the Sacred Heart, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 537

Essay

In light of the quote, “Cultivate the wish to learn, rather than the wish to be taught … If we wait to be taught, we shall never learn”, there are two main reasons that I will benefit from an education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart. The reasons being, I wish and I am eager to learn and progress as an individual, as well as excel in my education. I feel that the Convent of the Sacred Heart is the best choice, in that it will help me achieve both my personal and academic goals.

In researching the school’s proud principles, there was a specific word that stuck out to me, “Goals”.  The Convent of the Sacred Heart regards their school and teaching principles basedon specific goals such as, a personal and active faith in God, a deep respect for intellectual values, a social awareness which impels to action, the building of community as a Christian value, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom. I not only think it is important to have personal goals set for oneself, such as college or excellence in sports or art, but I also think that it is important to have a strong relationship with God.  Building and maintaining a good and strong relationship with God will ultimately help me as a student to grow intellectually and develop a greater respect and awareness for my fellow students, teachers, and family. In addition, a good relationship with God will deepen my faith, which can help increase the faith of others in my life as well. I strongly believe that the Convent of the Sacred Heart can help facilitate my goal in deepening and strengthening my relationship with God.

In addition to developing a stronger relationship with God and helping attain my goal to progress and excel in education, the Covent of the Sacred Heart can help me achieve a role as a leader.  I think leadership is the key to a successful education and future, especially for woman.  Learning to become anadmirable leader in today’s society can help open doors to many possibilities, whether in science, politics, or business.  The fact that Sacred Heart is an all-girls institution can help open those doors and advance myself as a leader before I enter college. The leadership qualities that I wish to develop include those qualities of responsibility and determination, as well as compassion for others.  Based on the review of the Sacred Heart and word of mouth, the teachers at Sacred Heart are committed to helping guide their students to become strong and independent leaders.  This is extremely important, as I am committed to excelling and becoming a leader in the community, whether I choose my path as a doctor, lawyer or top research scientist.

I feel that the Sacred Heart holds the same values in both education and in the Christian way of life that I have learned and implemented from my family. I want to keep these values strong and gain the knowledge I need to have a successful education, while developing friendships with other students and being committed to helping others through community outreach. Sacred Heart is the school that can help maintain these values and lead me to success.
