Essay

Executive Summary

The proposed project is to integrate the current IT system with an internet based platform. The initial project scope phase has been completed, showing that there is a sustainable environment and viable return on investment. This project occurs in two main phases; initially the focus was on developing the scope of the project. Now, this project proposal must shift focus to incorporation of the IT system into IDM’s business communications. During the scope phase, it was stated that this would be a one-time, non-continuous project. Recent examination has shown that this will be a continuous project when the overall time and cost of IT maintenance is included.

The purpose of the information system is to allow for effective membership management with comprehensive planning focused on clients’ needs. The information system has a two-fold structure, the first being the management of The IDM infrastructure and information with a focus on client trends and profiles, and the second is to deliver a marketable system to further develop the business goals. First, information systems is also considered knowledge management (KM), this “is all about having knowledge, both individual and corporate, storing it, and then making it readily accessible to those who need to access it (Charles, 2005, p. 4). The system will be analysed with both quantitative and qualitative methods (Christic, 2005, p. 11-26).

The management of the information system will allow management and employees to access, interpret, add and cross-reference client information regarding IDM clients activities and goals to develop a client-centric database that is accessible from the Internet and Intranet, with the focus on a comprehensive data base of all client activities as well as demographics. This will allow off-campus employees to track client management systems and allow clients better access to manage their personal portfolios. The key to this knowledge management process (Tiwanna and Mclean, 2005, p.13) is to develop an operational system of expertise for individual knowledge to be combined in a meaningful manner to develop composition and relationships with diverse working methods in a qualitative capacity.
