Creating an Optimized Organization, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 390

Essay

Organizational leadership concepts vary between individuals and the settings that characterize their leadership. Whatever the case, these concepts affect business operations in very many ways. Essentially, several leadership approaches exist in both business and routine practice. The leadership behaviors cherished by most leaders include authoritarian, participative, and delegative (Amernic, Russell, & Tourish, 2007). Notably, these leadership behaviors appeal to different individuals in diverse settings. Result oriented leadership practices; for example, have been effective in optimizing operations in business (Chaney, 2014). Among the leadership styles that I think may benefit my employer includes participative or democratic leadership behavior. I attribute to participative leadership behavior due to its transformative ability and the capacity to yield impressive results.

Participatory leadership behavior is an all-encompassing leadership approach that takes advantage of the input of all the stakeholders. According to Pasmore (2014), this leadership behavior nurtures a sense of community as it encourages individuals to partake of the opportunity to share in its transformative agenda. More than anything, participatory leadership requires that a leader includes his or her followers in the decision making process (Shermon, 2012). However, this does not mean that the followers’ decisions permeate the resolutions of leadership. Usually, the leader maintains his or her position as the overall decision-making organ. The participatory leadership behavior is no doubt an ideal business concept that has a successful tag on it.

Largely, taking a stand on the correct organizational leadership behavior is instrumental in giving followers the right direction. Participatory leadership behavior is particularly effective due to its ability to transform individuals and give the leadership the right direction. Apart from that, this type of leadership behavior embodies a sense of community spirit that eventually assists in optimizing operations. Due to its many success factors, I would strongly advocate for individuals to adopt participatory leadership behavior.
