Crime Rate in Atlanta, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 314

Essay

Crime rate in Atlanta has increased significantly. Many innocent citizens are robbed of their belongings while others are even killed by armed gangs. This has affected many people in the city that they can be attacked anytime in the city. Thenumber of people operating businesses in the city has reduced due to increased in crime rates (McNulty 2001, p. 97). Theeconomic growth in the city has also reduced. This is because the investors have moved out of the city to other cities, which are safe. The investors and other people running their businesses in the city fear to operate because they are robbedand even injured. This will bring their businesses back to zero that they feel uncomfortable doing business in the city. Ifthe same rate of crime will continue, the city will remain dormant as there will be no development taking place in the city.

Measures should be put in place to save the deterioration of peace and development in the city. The governmentshould come in and save the situation. More security personnel should be deployed in the city to deal with the crime. Thiscan be done by even recruiting and training more security officers in the city (Farrington & Welsh 2002, p. 142). In addition, the government should divine a way which they can use to disarm all the individuals in posses weapons illegally. The government should pass strict rules and regulations to deal with those in possession of weapons like guns, grenades, and other firearms. This is whereby any one got committing crime or in possession of firearms illegally is punishedaccordingly for others to fear and keep away of the crimes.
