Every student dreams of a successful encounter with higher education, propelling them towards their ultimate life goals and objectives. ASU is one of the top institutions of higher education in the country and numerous students subscribe to the different courses it offers. While all students at ASU seek to thrive in their respective professional fields, only those that apply the adequate and effective strategies realize success. Time management, building relationship with a professor, coping with stress, and using the library are four ways to be a successful student in ASU.
Time Management
Student’s at ASU, as most students in institutions of higher learning, have to contend with exhaustive schedules that may collide with the personal schedules. The high standards at ASU require full dedication from students. Notwithstanding, students are expected to deliver high quality in terms of academics, while pursue other activities and engagements that would enrich the other facets of their lives. As such, it is crucial that a student be able to effectively manage time so as to meet all their obligations as required by ASU. A successful student should be able to recognize their abilities and capacities, undertake only those activities that are pertinent to their academic and professional success, effectively allocate time to all activities and follow through on all commitments as required by the institution.
Using Library
The library is an essential tool within any given institution of higher learning. ASU’s libraries offer a wide range of specialized resources to help the student in their quest for knowledge. While ASU physical libraries contain numerous volumes of content, the most prominent, and arguably most accessible, are the online libraries and the e-journals.
Online Libraries
Books are an integral part of any given research. This is because, for almost any given research topic, someone has conducted a research on it and written a book. This information is crucial to act as a foundation for any given research, whether it is a research on the same topic, or a progressive research to further knowledge on the given topic. It is important that all student writes have access to online libraries, be it regular online libraries or Online University libraries, with an adequate number of books as sources for foundational information for their research.
E-Journals
Journals have been important tools for academic researchers and scholars from time memorial. This is journals provided all information pertaining to a given subject or field. However, the most important aspect of journals is the fact that all information contained in any given journal has to be accredited and approved by a standing body of authority within the given scientific field. This makes journals a very crucial source of information for a student writer as they assert the credibility and authenticity of the information presented by the given writer. Electronic journals provide such services at the convenience of the writer. It is therefore important that all student writers have access to electronic journals so as to add credibility to their research.
Building Relationships with a Professor
Instructors are some of the most invaluable tool for a student in any institution of higher learning. As such, developing and nurturing a professional relationship with a professor is a critical tool for success at ASU. ASU is credit with some of the best minds in the respective fields they represent. Developing a relationship with, at least, one of the professors every semester can go a long way in developing an active and potent network. This network of professors and instructors can be useful in getting exposure to opportunities that can further one’s career goals within the university as well as after graduation. Professors have considerable knowledge, experience and insight that is integral to student success in ASU.
Stress Management
Stress is a common occurrence in the life of any student. The academic life is wrought with numerous challenges that are designed to push a student’s intellectual abilities and capacities to the limit. As such, stress is expected to be encountered during the time at ASU. Stress has been shown to affect student performance hence in effect hampering student output. It is, therefore, paramount that student create for themselves a stress free study place by identifying sources of stress and putting in place measures to mitigate and/or prevent stress. Stress carries with it serious academic risks for students, including difficulty to concentrate, persistent fatigue and associated health risks such as high blood pressure.
A number of stress management techniques can be employed during the time of ASU. Psychological techniques can be employed to ensure a stable mental and emotional conditions. This can be achieved through visits to the student counsellor. Physiological techniques help to take care of any physical symptoms associated with stress. Regular exercises, such as a number of laps run around the ASU field track can be useful in maintain a healthy heart, steady blood pressure and low levels of cholesterol.
As John Quince once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader It should be every student’s endeavor to be able to earn the invaluable opportunity to not only become a leader, but also a positive influence on modern education, the society and the nation as a whole.
