Danbury CT Statistics

Danbury is a city in northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It had population at the 2010 census of 80,893. Danbury is the fourth largest city in Fairfield County and is the seventh largest city in Connecticut.

As of the census of 2010, there were 80,893 people, 29,570 households, and 29,160 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,931.0 people per square mile (686.3/km²). There were 31,154 housing units at an average density of 705.3 per square mile (261.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 68.2% White, 7.2% African American, 0.4% Native American, 6.8% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 9.34% from other races, and 8.0% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race is 25% of the population and white persons who are not Hispanic are 57.2%.

The population is distributed as follows: 21.1% under the age of 18, persons under the age of 5 years are 6.7%, 11.1% are at 65 years and over from this age. The female percentage in 2010 is 50.9%. It has been also noted that from 2000 to 2010, there is a change in population is 8.1%.

The median income for a household in the city in 2009 was $66,906, Per capita money income in 2009 was $36,468, and persons below poverty level were 9.3% in 2009.

The total labor force in Danbury is 90,300, from which the 83,700 people are employed and 6,600 are unemployed and in this way the unemployment rate is 7.8%. All these rates are subject to November, 2011.

The statistics present that the people who are never married are counted 30%, 55% people are currently married, 2% people have been separated after marriage, 4% people are widowed, and 9% people have divorced.

People who have education less than 9th grade are 12%, the people between 9th to 12th grades are also12%, high school graduates are 25%, some college, no degree are 12%, people with associate degree are 5%, people with bachelor’s degree are20%, and people with graduate degree are14%.
