Data Management Difficulties, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 298

Essay

In any reasonably sized business organization where information system technology applications are used, vast amounts of data tend to increase at an alarming rate. This continuously increasing data needs to be organized so that it doesn’t pile up to the point of being scattered across the organization and impossible to locate what is needed. Data warehousing is a computerized system used for organizing such large amounts of data. The digital data in an organization’s information system can be thought of as files. Data warehousing organizes these files into folders and boxes in a specific fashion suitable for the desires of the business. A common method of organizing data is by doing so in alphabetical order. Where some forms of data are more important than others, data for specific decisions or circumstances can be organized into unique digital folders easily accessible to those involved.

The need for external data in the constant decision making processes for organizations can be difficult to regulate and transit. Online transaction processing can make this easier in reducing difficulties of transmitting external data. This is because online transaction data bases are able to digitally manage data processing and transactions through information systems. There may at times be issues of legality or security in transporting data and an online transaction data base can be set to meet such accommodations.

Raw data on the other hand, is considered primary data from a source and does not need to be processed or manipulated. It can be stored in varying formats and this can easily be done through data warehousing. Data mining is the process of exploring or researching cast amounts of data referred to as big data. This information is being conveyed to big data on a real time network and is then being sold to third party businesses.
