Essay

What are some social problems that children with behavior disorders might have as a result of their inability to control their behaviors?
Often times, children with disruptive behaviours end up being branded or labelled as rebels due to the fact that they have a hard time understanding regular social rules and are thus usually invasive of the situation of others. Considerably, the imbalance in their mental makeup pushes them to act according to what they know is right and to what they simply want. Relatively, this includes the need to satisfy self-definition. Most often than not, they want to explore without thinking of the consequences of their decisions in the end. In this case, others become irritated and thus become assumptive of the idea that these children are not disciplined therefore should be punished harshly which in turn results to more drastic situations which worsens the condition of the child.

According to your reading, what are some strategies that might be used to help these children to learn to control their impulsive behaviors?

In assisting children to cope up with impulsive behaviours, patience and understanding are very vital parts of the process. Relatively, from the course of understanding, people [especially parents and teachers] who are closest to children with disruptive behaviour would be able to help them manage the situation through knowing what these individuals are most interested in. IT must be realized that children with disruptive behaviours are not bad, instead, they are exceptionally bright who simply need to be guided differently in comparison with the others. True, they respond differently to punishment and rules, but they do respond willingly to rewards. Helping them understand the difference between good and bad through the utilization of reward system often works. Reducing frustration on the part of these young ones is very helpful so as to make it easier for them to accept the fact that they are different from others and that this is not a curse but an opportunity to be themselves the best way that they could. Several known individuals who have made a name in science and other remarkable fields were noted to have ADHD, however it is with the extensive course of channelling their attention to something they are interested in that made it easier for them to do away with the mischief and in turn use their time in more rewarding activities.
