Debate Over Whether Global Warming Exists, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 552

Essay

There is currently a debate over whether global warming exists. Many critics of this theory claim that the extreme weather that the world has observed lately is either due to normal weather patterns or that the world is undergoing a global cooling. It would be beneficial for these individuals to gain a greater understanding of the meaning of global warming in addition to the evidence generated by scientists in support of this belief. The purpose of this document is to inform the public about global warming, demonstrating why the evidence for this theory is factual.

Global warming describe the net change of weather on Earth from a cooler environment to a warmer environment. Many individuals, such as Donald Trump, that do not understand this concept believe that global warming cannot be occurring because the weather has become colder in certain areas. However, it is important to understand that when considering the world’s weather as a whole, is has become warmer, which is altering the severity of the weather patterns observed.

In addition, global warming states that the net warmth of the Earth will result in a sea level rise due to the melting of the polar ice caps in Antarctica. It is expected that the sea level will rise by 5 feet by 2020. Many people believe that this cannot happen so quickly and do not think that the ice caps have been melting because there is no noticeable change in sea level for many people. However, the sea level has been slowly rising over the past several decades, and this data is evident in charts that plot the level of the ocean over time.

Many individuals believe that pollution is unrelated to global warming, even though they do believe that pollution poses a threat to the environment. However, it is important for them to understand that the emissions from factories and cars enter the atmosphere, which destroys a protective layer in the atmosphere called the ozone layer. This layer is responsible for protecting everything on Earth from the sun’s harmful UV rays, and pollution pokes holes in this layer, make us more susceptible to heat. This is one of the reasons the temperature of the planet has been rising.’

Furthermore, water loss is an unfortunate symptom of global warming. Many warm regions around the world, such as certain parts of California and Israel, are experiencing the worst droughts they have seen in a long period of time. Due to the warming in these areas, there has been less rain and water reserves in reservoirs have evaporated. This demonstrates that global warming is a serious problem that has the potential to impact humanity not just in the future, but right now.

In conclusion, global warming is a real problem that must be stopped. Scientists have demonstrated proof for this problem by measuring the sea level over time, observing the amount of water that communities have available, and by measuring the impacts of pollution on the ozone layer. It is therefore essential that the world take action immediately to slow down these harmful environmental effects. If we don’t, it is likely that our weather patterns will worsen, which could result in sickness or the loss of life. Global warming is a real problem, and one we have to stop right now because our future lives depend on it.
