Research Paper

Making decisions in the right way is more important as compared to making the right decisions. Corporate leaders have capabilities to come up with bold decisions that aim at the betterment of the company. This paper reviews a decision that a corporate leader made in the field of fashion, and the extent of success of the decision.

The field of fashion is a very essential one as new fashions enter into the market daily. Jenna Lyons, the president and creative director of the J. Crew has a unique definition of fashion. Fashion is all about gut, she says. As long as one has the guts to walk around dressed in any funny clothing, then that is fashion. No science describes fashion and the main idea is taking it or not. There are no second thoughts about fashion.

Jenna Lyons decided to have her own fashion regardless of what people would say or think. She has a very strong attitude regarding personal attribute that enables her care less of others. Jean Lyons worked closely with other fashion designers, who encouraged her to develop and transform J. Crew at New York.   Initially J. Crew was a mere stale catalogue company (White, 21), but Jean Lyons made the decision to transform it into one of the creatively credible stall, with highly desirable brands of clothing. The decision came with challenges, as the input cost was considerably high. However, this did not shut her dreams, and she kept moving slowly.

The outcome of the decision is so successful, since currently, Jean Lyons’ has great and loyal fans of her products including Michelle Obama (WWD: Women’s Wear Daily 4). She makes great revenue from her business that has expanded and opened branches. J. Crew’s measure of profit currently stands between $$75 million $260 million per annum. I strongly agree on the strength of deciding and taking action.
