Depression comprises at least a two week period of frustration, sadness and anxiety. Clinical depressive disorder is the most common of mental disturbances when a person goes through a period of loss and stays depressed. Clinical depression is more than a bad mood but a cold overhanging of the whole body, mind and neurological system. The United States has accounted for the highest amounts of people with depression. There is a lack of appetite, loss of friends and difficulty sleeping that accompanies depression. Often it goes undiagnosed because people are afraid to report it because of the stigma that comes with it and its medication.

The neurotransmitters do not act normally for they go back and forth and cannot find a proper setting in one’s system. There are negative cognitions of the treatment of depression such as worse depression, anxiety, problems sleeping and in severe cases suicidal thoughts or ideations.

The best way to treat depression is with serotonin and ambilify. The ambilify is a mood stabilizer that helps with the anxiety caused by depression and lessens the symptoms. Some anti-depressants that work well are Pristiq, Effexor, Celexa and Prozac. Pristiq is one of the newest anti-depressants able to doctors to prescribe. These with the combination of a mood stabilizer can help major depressive disorders where people can lead normal and happy lives.

Depression is usually chronic rather than acute hence people have to stay on medication for a while.
