The patients were interviewed face to face in their houses by professionals. In addition, records from clinical tests were also used. Questions were asked about the condition to get data about the symptoms to establish if the episode met DSM-IV principle s for the condition in question.

They were self-rated ones and included Rosenberg Self-Esteem Questionnaire (SEQ), which deals with self-esteem, Dysfunctional Attitudes Scale (DAS) that measures attitudes and beliefs, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) that gives personality, and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) that gives the extent of the condition.

Discussion

Postnatal mood disorders

It was found that the mood disorders in relationship to giving birth are issues that lead to most suicide, which are the leading reasons of maternal death in the United Kingdom (Jones et al., 2010). Other researchers have shown that the women who suffer the condition is in relation to giving birth and the start of depression.

Personality and cognitive style

The results suggest that women with the condition in question related to childbirth shows characteristics depressogenic reports with a very low self-esteem and negative self-evaluation. There were no different personality characteristics between the two groups in the sample (Jones et al., 2010).

Recommendation

However, in the future studies, three-group model should be included to distinguish the factors that influence the dejection diathesis and the condition in particular.
