Describe Your Involvement on OpenIDEO, Essay Example

Words: 630

Essay

First of all, through this OpenIDEO platform, I have learnt about the many social problems that exist which I never knew before and the way to solve some of these problems. There are so many real social problems that exist, so I felt that it is necessary to participation in discussions through OpenIDEO platform. Maybe I could give some useful comments to help solve these problems. For example, most young people are unemployed and I have learnt how to help increase the employment rate of young people. I have also learnt how to create a healthy community in the workplace, how to raise the awareness of children on the benefits of choosing fresh food, how to recycle e-waste, how to establish better recycling habits at home and so on.

Therefore, I participated in the OpenIDEO platform and after the discussions, many challenges were highlighted, and most people made comments some of which I had similar ideas. I was so delighted to see that different people can share common ideas, and I think since my ideas are valid, I have a responsibility to make important contribution that will improve people’s lives.

At present, I think that garbage and electronic pollution are some of the social problems that cannot be ignored. Therefore immediate solution is paramount because these pollutions affect health and environment of people. Therefore, people need to have knowledge on garbage so that the environment can be made safer for human life. Based on what I learnt at the OpenIDEO platform, my ideas were even better than any other ideas presented and therefore I will not rely on the ideas that I learnt but I will build my own ideas on OpenIDEO platform. These ideas include how to make recycled furniture, how to recycle old shoes and clothes and so on. I hope that my ideas can really help people to build good habits of recycling, and can be translated into actions.

I think this was an excellent platform because I started to learn how to think deeply on how to face society problems although it was not as beautiful as I had imagined before. Besides, through OpenIDEO, I learnt that there are so many social issues, some of which need to be addressed immediately while others require long-term considerations. OpenIDEO also gave important opportunity to most people to participate in discussions on how to help solve these social problems. I  really enjoyed having participated in the discussion on OpenIDEO. I think this is a good platform to let people exchange ideas and express what they really think can work and what cannot work. In addition, the people can also know that a certain solution can be implemented and help the society. I think that everyone should participate and make contributions because we are living in one planet and we should enjoy common resources. No matter which country or religion we belong to, we all have a common goal to make a better environment.

I think that participation in OpenIDEO is really important because it can increase the social impact. I suggest that it should be promoted to all schools so that more students can participate in the discussion. We are the future generation of the motherland and therefore we must be closely involved in solving our society issues. Moreover, I think that introduction of OpenIDEO club can allow people to engage in face to face discussions and direct communication and not just on-line talking. So people can meet open members and friends in there, and get some foods or drinks, it could be more relax-able. Therefore, such a club can attract more and more people to participate and share ideas and discuss views. I believe enough good ideas are a benefit for the development of society and can create a better future life.
