It is no secret that hospitals have never been a destination of choice.  The smell of sterilization, the uncertainty of what is going to happen, and of course the gowns.  Young and old alike are given the same gown, the only variation in size.  These gowns typically are closed on the front, and open on the back.  They are thin, cold, and you have to hold the back shut to prevent exposing oneself.  With the opening being in the back, the small string at the top of the gown does not keep the entire thing shut.  The product selected will not change the smell of the hospital, or the nervousness that coincides with the visit, but it will allow one to be more comfortable.  The designer gowns come in different patterns, and best of all they zip in the front or the back.  The gown allows the access that doctors may need while keeping the patient comfortable in between.  This allows the patient the ability to move without fear of exposure.

The target audience is children, under the age of ten; mothers-to-be; and teenage girls.  The reason for the selected target market is children under the age of ten do not, at any cost, want to be at the hospital.  And forcing them to wear a thin, ugly gown does not help the process.  Having a cute design on their gown can be a way to ease the experience.  It also will zip up for them keeping them covered and warmer.  Mothers-to-be are a large market and comfort during this process would be greatly desired.  Babies choose to come on their term so labor can be drug out.  Keeping them warm and comfortable during the process will make it a little easier on the mother-to-be.  Lastly, teenage girls.  This is because they are in the awkward stage that remaining modest is still important.  Having the gown that zips would keep them covered.

The reason this ad was designed was to appeal to the target audience in a comical but serious way.  Having a child in a hospital or giving birth to a child is a serious event.  Loved ones will do whatever it takes to keep them happy and to make the undesirable event better.  By showing the target audience in the designer gowns, the market can see exactly who we are aiming to reach.  It also adds a lighter-side to a serious subject.  There is no secret that the number one joke in association with hospital gowns is exposing ones hind side.  This ad was created to appeal to both side in hope of getting a better overall outcome.
