Essay

Alcohol addiction is often noted as one of the most common points of addiction. It affects more than 80% of the overall population of both men and women all over the world. The easy access to several kinds of alcohol in the market makes this problem a common source of disarray among many individuals in the society. It could be realized that the availability of the element that causes the addiction makes it harder for some people to accept that they are already developing a sense of addiction over alcohol. In a way, individuals who are already undergoing such sense of loose control over the act of drinking. The addiction does not start eventually. It could be observed among individuals who have such addiction that they start with casual drinking. The desire to drink more usually escalates when an element of motivation is developed. There are instances when post traumatic situations occur or simply just stressful conditions that often break the sense of control that they have over their drinking practices. However, realization of such break of control actually makes a deep distinction on how the individual wants to actually take responsibility of the actions he has built up in relation to drinking.

This is the reason why in the process of helping an individual recover from such addiction through intake procedures, it is first and foremost a goal to note the need for an individual to know and accept the situation that he is in. Most often than not, such consideration occurs in relation to the matter by which an individual becomes fully able to see the problem behind his actions. Dealing with this matter requires full control on the part of the one helping and a good control on patients and temper as such consideration over the person being assisted might require longer time of consideration and attention in order to get the attention and consideration of the person needing assistance. When the individual to be helped admits the need for assistance, then the intake process could begin.

The first step in the intake process should include paper work completion. Herein, every data collected from the interview process. The assessment handled in consideration with the individual being helped shall be noted through recorded writing. In this report, every single data considered to be relatively important to the being of the individual being helped and how his or her case could be handled through therapy could actually be given a better sense of manipulation. The interview processes could further continue after the initial paperwork completion.

The developmental information gained from the interviews are to be recorded accordingly to see through the developments of the individual being helped as he goes through the first steps towards his recovery. To assure the assumptions and the conditions of case analysis released based on the recorded data and the developmental interview reports, it is essential to complete diagnostic testing approaches. At times, two diagnostic testing procedures are enough to prove that a person is suffering from alcoholic addiction. Being able to complete such diagnostic approach would provide a clear path for the therapist noting on where to start and on how to go about the procedures that could address the specific needs of the patient. Recovery of the individual being helped could only be realized through the time by which the therapist spends time to know more about the person and the background that probably brought him to the condition that he is currently in.

Diagnostic procedures also provide the therapists an idea on the medical background of the individual being treated just in case there could be some anomalies that need to be addressed accordingly. This would have a great impact on how the possible medical treatments shall be handled alongside the psychological assistance to be provided to the patient. This need shall lead to the completion of another step towards the intake procedure to be adapted. The completion of a medical history and physical exam shall noted the different reports that have been noted through the diagnostic testing that the individual shall be subjected to.

Once everything has been completed, the individual to be treated shall be given particular assessment interviews especially in relation to the need of telling him what particular procedures shall be undergone to help him out with his addiction. Along with such information, financial data shall also be given particular attention to. At this point, the individual being helped shall be given an idea on how he is likely to be helped and how he shall be able to pay for each treatment. In case he does need financial assistance, this step in the intake process also imposes the need for the handler to provide the patient with the information he needs in knowing what options he might actually have especially when it comes to being assisted through agencies and NGOs that are willing to give financial assistance to individuals needing monetary help.

After everything had been cleared to the patient, he shall also be given several options of institutions where he could get assistance from. Giving him an idea on what each institution could give him and how they operate could help him decide on where to check in for a regular therapy. Care and coordination between the therapist and the patient is a vital part of the process of recovery being aimed for. Considerably, this option could only be realized after the agreement between the people involved in the intake program has been properly established.

It could be understood from this particular discussion that somehow, addiction on alcohol and the recovery from it begins with the ideal way of noting the occurrence and existence of the problem being treated. It could be realized that somehow, the capacity of a person to become more involved in the process of recovery that is to be provided to him will identify the possible success of the possible approach being adapted by the therapist to provide the assistance he needs. Cooperation and understanding between the individuals involved in the process plays a great role on how the procedure of intake is to be undergone properly.

The results of providing good assistance to alcohol addicts provide a great way of helping an individual recover from unhealthy habits while also saving those around him from the pressures of dealing with a person who needs to be controlled. Nevertheless, through all the procedures to be taken into consideration, it should be realized by the therapist handling such cases to make a distinctive indication on how they deal with each individual with high integrity and respect. It should be realized by each therapist that the individuals they have to deal with may have their own issues in life that they are already having a hard time dealing with. Relatively, it could be understood that somehow, with such approach on the part of the therapist, it would be easier to get the attention of the person to be assisted.

Through the years, several developments in the process of providing therapeutic help to alcoholic individuals have changed according to the changing needs of the people developing such addiction. Included in the said procedures of development is the way by which each therapist is required to treat individuals needing help as patients and not as clients who can pay. They need to be accepted as people who are in need of assistance therefore should be accepted as individuals who need attention and not as criminals or people who ought to be excluded from the society. The need to recover is specifically based on the desire of the person to return or at least become a better individual who is able to function well for himself and for the people that he is living along with. From this point, not only would the process of recovery help the individual himself, but also that of the relationships he has and eventually the whole society that he is included in.
