Designing Formats and Including Visuals, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 265

Essay

On the official website for Siemens Renewable Energy, located at http://www.energy.siemens.com/us/en/power-generation/renewables/?stc=usccc025486, all of the visuals, such as interactive photos and videos, have been designed to appeal to the general reader interested in alternative/renewable energy sources as well as professional individuals in the corporate world. The format and visual displays on this website allows the viewer to fully interact with some amazing videos on how renewable energy sources are the key to the future of the world, such as windpower from turbines, hydro power from water to create unlimited amounts of electricity, and solar power which Siemans describes as the ultimate source for generating power via solar power plants.

All of the visuals on this website are arranged in logical order, starting with the most fundamental alternative energy source, being solar power, followed by wind power, hydroelectric, and biomass. The interactive videos appear to have been designed to appeal to the viewer’s sense of ethics (i.e., the ethical reasons for adopting alternative energy sources in contrast to traditional sources) and their emotional attachments to the old ways of doing things related to generating power. Interestingly, since Siemans is not a power producing company, it has everything to gain by advocating renewable energy sources which overall engages the viewer’s interest and willingness to further explore all of the possibilities.

When applicable, I intend to use exciting visuals in my future papers, especially if the subject is based on science which tends to require some type of visual support. Also, in my professional life, I intend to use visuals for meetings amd conferences which help to support arguments and viewpoints.
