Detailed Assessment of Program, Essay Example

Essay

My career path goal is to work hand in hand with government agencies to secure America from threats both foreign and domestic.  I can take the next step forward by utilizing what is taught in the criminal justice program to build a foundation for my career.  Threats at home and abroad are significant and real. Homeland Security has grown exponentially throughout the past two presidential terms and would fulfill my need to work for the greater good while also providing a career path with multiple options in scope and mission.  The global war on terror is not going to end but with the tools provided by Ashford University I will build the knowledge base regarding our constitution, Homeland Security Act, the criminal justice system as well as how to work cross-functionally spanning multiple criminal justice fields including but not limited to information technology, law, and psychology to name a few.  This early in my career I want to have a strategic vision such as defending and upholding the justice system but I also would like a career that provided the ability to become an expert in a subject such as crime scene investigations but also have different venues to expand my role such as working with correctional facilities or work at a strategic planning level to solve criminal justice issues.

My time at Ashford has exceeded my expectations because not only have they provided exactly what they proposed they provided guidance when I needed it most.  I went into Ashford University looking for a degree that would help me find a job in these hard economic times.  What I will receive is a degree that provides me the opportunities and power of choice to select a career.  As with anything in life no how great something performs in their goals and objectives, in which the Criminal Justice program excels, there is room for improvement.  The program would benefit from real world scenarios or a question and answer panel from graduates of the degree and how they implemented them in their current career.
