Diseases in the Cells of the GI Tract, Essay Example

The digestive system is a major functioning system in the human body. Composed of 30 feet long twisting tube as well as the different parts of the system that contribute to the procedure of digesting food into nutrients that can be absorbed directly by the body and waste that can later pn be excreted. The overall makeup of the digestive system consists of the GI tract cells. Relatively, the GI tract is divided into upper and lower parts which specifically indicate the function of both sections based on the process of digestion that they are involved with.

During instances when such parts do not function properly, several abnormalities in the GI tract occurs. One common disease that involves this particular body system is heartburn. This ailment is characterized by the feeling of warm [almost heated-up] waves that rise from behind the breastbone up to the neck. Notably, this occurs due to the rise of stomach acid back to the esophagus caused by acid reflux. This disease is often called the gastroesophageal reflux or GERD. Notably, it could be assumed that through learning about this disease, the irregular function of the GI tract due to some inconsistencies in the system itself could be better discovered. Understanding the background of this disease could also impose on the definition of how the GI tract cells basically impact the function of the other systems of the body especially that of the heart. This creates a definite indication on how important the function of the GI tract cells is especially when it comes to assuring overall body-function efficiency. At this point, it is expected that studying through this disease would provide a better insight on how the GI tract cells function in the course of assuring bodily progress as part of its primary role in the improved body system development.
