DNP-Prepared Nurses, Essay Example

The nursing profession continues to expand in scope and practice across many key areas, including policy, public health, patient-centered care, and quality of care, among others. Therefore, it is important for DNP-prepared nurses to exercise ethical decision-making in order to advance the key principles of the nursing profession and to be effective in treating patients across many population groups. This requires an understanding of the dynamics of nursing practice and how they are integrated into the healthcare system as seamlessly as possible to facilitate positive outcomes. Nurses with this level of knowledge and training must serve as an example for others to follow in their efforts to expand their authority and ability to practice at a high level in order to ease the burden of physicians, particularly in communities where patient loads are very high. In addition, this level of nursing must work to bridge existing gaps among healthcare providers that have a direct influence on limiting access to resources and in limiting the ability to provide high quality care in many communities (Nichols, O’Connor, & Dunn, 2014). These perspectives will address the value of new approaches in order to fully integrate DNP-prepared nurses to promote the doctrine of healthcare practice and to support high quality care and treatment at all times (Nichols et.al, 2014).

The DNP role continues to evolve within the nursing profession and supports an expansion of resources and labor that will likely have a positive and lasting impact on decision-making throughout the healthcare system (AACN, 2012). From this perspective, it is necessary to develop models that will educate professionals and enable them to address many problems within the healthcare system by using their advanced knowledge at a high level (AACN, 2012). There must be a greater emphasis on the development of resources that will influence the health and wellbeing of patients on a more consistent basis and that will improve their quality of life over the long term.
