Dominican Republic Changed My Life, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 496

Essay

It was a very long morning in the Dominican republic where I visited a local landed community called Antonci. Me and my mother spent numbers of hours discussing and learning the ways through which local partners and CWS helped in transforming the families here.

We were about to leave when a person who was travelling along with me intended to use the bathroom. Finding the bathroom and using it is much difficult when a person is on travelling. Our driver helped us in finding the bathroom. Finally we found a house of a poor lady who allowed us to use the bathroom.

While waiting for the bathroom in her house, she graciously offered the coffee  and start being hospitalized as much as she can. She started boiling hot pot water at the back of the house. After which we spent time together by sharing family photos although we were from different parts of the word. Even though today it think of that old lady what she will be doing now? What there life is all about ? I think of them whether I will be able to meet them again ? and I am unable to find the answer.

Many people think that the life there is very special with sunshine and beaches. But the fact is , life is very difficult and many of the families living in Dominican republic are extremely poor. There per day income is as little as $2.

It not east to accept the poverty dangers and exploitation are real in live and yet many communities are in a hope to get a better future for them. The communities are working for them to building houses, welfare societies and having medical clinic in remote areas.

But then I remember, that every time I walked in the hunger CROP, I donated, I volunteered , I was touching them and there soul which is immortal. The way they see you, makes a person think what life is all about. Today we are very busy in our social life. We meet friends, families, we do parties. We would like to try all kinds of technology and remain updated as much as we can. We wear good cloths , we remain in style we go for higher degrees and wants to remain on top of the world.

The people don’t have to feed their basic necessity of life. There needs are far away as compare to their local values. I was lucky enough to be there with my mother as she was also saw many things which is practically not easy to be accepted in the life’s.

The experience gave me something to hold into the memory, the life there is having a very slow pace. It makes in think over and over again and keeps me calm from the speedy life of the todays world. It was an enlighteining and an inspirtional experience on my life which changed me and my mother totally the way we think and persue the life.
