Introduction

The profiles and competencies for jobs A and B in Schlumberger which is a drilling company relate technical issues that are important to ensure that a given piece of work is done effectively. The job profiles for jobs A and B in drilling and measurement would entail issues that that touch on experience, education background and skills. The purpose of the positions of Job A is to partake preventive maintenance and repair of tools and equipment in compliance to the standards, practices and procedures as provided by the SLB and D&M. the technician in the A job category is expected to gain experience and expertise through training while on job.

The job profiles for A

The scope of duties for the technician in Job A are limited to the duties that are aimed at ensuring that he or she can follow the equip program, supervises other technicians under his or her command. The job category A contributes to the goals of the organization by ensuring that he or she complies with the D&M policies that are in tandem with the vision and mission statement of the organization. The technician should be able to work under the supervision of experienced maintenance technician staff (Briant, 180).

The candidate should be able to continuously monitor the use, and re-order levels of the required inventory and the spare parts

He or she may be called in to assist in the distribution of work within the team and examines the workload of others.

Competencies and proficient for positions A

The technician working in above mentioned position will work with other technicians under him and is also expected to cooperate with top supervisors in the accomplishment of his or tasks. The desired person for this post should show the following competencies.

  • The candidate should have the desired skills necessary for plant maintenance and should have worked in a maintenance post for at least three years.

  • Should show proper understanding of different electronic operation platform
  • Should be a member of the national engineering and maintenance board in the country
  • Should be a registered member of the body with a valid registration certificate
  • The desired candidate should be to deliver the designed work within agreed period of time by working under the specified time allotment.

Job Profiles for B

The person working under this position should be a drilling engineer who will be responsible for ensuring high quality engineering interface with the customers of the company.

The engineer will ensure proper design and implementation of the plans of work.

He or she shall perform drilling duties and guide the directional drilling  operations help the customers of the company with the drilling plans.

The candidate should be able to work with clients and develop good drilling plans, develop conceptual design and work schedules.

The drilling technician also works with the sales team and the service department to ensure that effective and efficient operations.

The drilling technician would also be involved in designing and planning the different types of wells as specified by the client and the organization

The engineer may also have the opportunity to participate in tender processes and provide  support in d The candidate for the job of a drilling technician should be to conduct proper evaluation of all the aspects related to the performance and maintenance of a database on all the information that pertain to drilling (Moore, 267).

Basic computer knowledge is therefore preferred to ensure the candidate should be store and retrieve all the data that are related to the job.

The candidate will also be expected to review and assess the performance of the subordinates to ensure that they are in tandem with the performance objectives and provide guidance to ensure change in the job categorization. He or she will be to determine the need for more training of the subordinates without any form of biasness and with high level of consistency.

Should be able to identify where the cost effective techniques can be employed through a proper cost benefit analysis of all the operations that are related to the work, the technician should conduct proper cost evaluations of all the workflows in the drilling department (DelPo & Lisa, 156).

The drilling technician will play a very cardinal role in ensuring all the drilling plans and work initiatives are accomplished. It is the light of this fact that the following competencies are deemed desirable to ensure the person enables the organization offer superior services to the customers as stated in the vision and mission statement of the organization (Torrington & Hall, 205)

  • The preferred candidate should have at least Diploma in mechanical engineering with knowledge of related electronic appliances.
  • The candidate should have worked as a drilling technician for at least two years.
  • Should be a registered member of a relevant professional body with a valid license
  • Should have a good record of delivering quality results
  • Should be to work with members of cross functional teams and contribute in team works
  • Should show understanding of Schlumberger quality, environment and safety management
  • Should be able to demonstrate ability to share knowledge and reuse as rooted in the workflow of the company.
  • The candidate should be a quick learner, very proactive and vision oriented
  • Should be able to pursue everything with energy and drive
  • Should be show high level of personal commitment and strives for continuous improvement of the system.
  • Should pay attention to all details and elements aimed at ensuring quality control
  • Should be a good communicator with good listening skills, and be to relate well with other workmates.
  • The candidates should be able to manage personal development and keeps up to date on the company’s technique and management methods.
  • The person will in personal job appraisal and performs audits to with the view of ensuring that the policies and standards are properly understand and implement by the team working under him or her.
  • The candidate should be able to ensure that all the drilling targets are attained.
