GHB

Date rape is a type of drug used to make sexual attacks or rape easier and make a person jumbled about what is happening. Young adults and teens mainly abuse it in bars and clubs. Its positive effects include euphoria, tranquility, and increased sex drive, while its adverse effects include hallucinations, sweating, nausea, loss of consciousness, coma, and amnesia. Regular use of GHB is associated with brain effects like adverse effects on working memory and IQ and high anxiety and stress levels. It falls under the depressant category.

Alcohol

Binge drinking is then excessive alcohol consumption in a short duration of time, leading to high alcohol concentration in the blood. It is approximated that two out of five campus students are binge drinkers. According to a study conducted by the Harvard school of public health, 51%of male campus students drink more than five drinks in a row. It falls under the category of sedatives or depressants.

Marijuana

Marijuana is the dried flowers and leaves of Cannabis Sativa. Marijuana should be legalized national wide. This is because it is safer than tobacco and alcohol. It is a relatively safe substance; hence when legalized, it can be regulated accordingly. Legalization can also benefit the economy. Lastly, it would generate a lot of tax revenues for the countries. It falls under stimulants or depressants.

Heroin

It is a drug made from morphine. The rate of Heroin use in our area is very. Young adults drive the rate. In my city, those with heroin addiction are being Medication-Assisted Treatment, and they are being supplied with naloxone to help reduce the number of overdose deaths. Heroin falls under the drug category of depressants.

Ecstasy

It is a drug taken for pleasure. Effects include empathy, increased energy, and altered sensations. Ecstasy is used for therapeutic purposes, such as the treatment of depression from the loss of a loved one, because it has been found effective in helping a person meditate about their persistent experiences. Ecstasy falls under the drug category of hallucinogens or stimulants.

Ritalin

Ritalin is over-prescribed for kids identified with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Its continued prescription is a result of ADHD and a larger acceptance from the parents of the success of Ritalin as an appropriate and useful treatment. It falls under the class of stimulants.

Nicotine

It is a chemical that is present in tobacco. Nicotine should not be made legal because it has very many health effects. These effects include high blood pressure and heart rate, decreased appetite, diarrhea, nausea, and withdrawal symptoms to the brain a person tries to quit. It is habit-forming and toxic. It falls under stimulants.
