Abstract
E-commerce and Internet Marketing, otherwise regarded electronic commerce or electric business, have become an economic grounding point for retail sales, wholesale purchasing, banking, and even international business and international banking. E-commerce commandeers the supply electronic funds transfer, Internet marketing, chain management, inventory management system, electric data interchange (EDI), and automated data collection. Now electronic actions seem to be the rising internet surge. This will configure the next human revolution, our next growth phase within us globally since the industrial revolution.
E-commerce or Internet Marketing constitutes the buying and selling of services and products through Internet or other computer networks. Ewaryst Tkacz and Adrian Kapczynski exemplify this evolution that we are all facing with Internet – Technical Development and Applications (2009). On the web, Third World Countries Most Keen to Mobile Content, produced by Jason Hahn (2012), teaches a profound amount of insight of this current global market. Both of these books, Internet Marketing and e-Commerce (Hanson and Kalyanam, 2006), and Principles of Internet Marketing (Ward Hanson, 1999) are brilliant references on the concerns that a person who sells goods or services in a market can expect in this newly digitized world. Rather than referencing subjective strategies and global tactics, I will instead focus on the general (global) issues that come across accordingly.
I will demonstrate how 2012 has progressively been a year that many humans are eagerly anticipating reparation to the damage left from these past six to eight years; at the same time, others have been developing unwarranted fears and even fatalistic apathy about how this year will be the end of our existence.
Introduction
The terms E-commerce, Web Marketing, Online Marketing, or Internet Marketing are all commonly referred titles that mark the drastic shift in retail that the world has seen within the previous thirty years; that is, that the economically viable regions have noticed initially, and more recently this sales option has become global (within the previous fifteen years, give or take a few). Recently, third-world nations, such as India and most Latin-American nations, have started to see economic progress while developing their way into the market through mobile devices.
This retail forum actually began to evolve nearly thirty years ago. “The first pilot system was installing in Tesco in the UK, first demonstrated in 1979 by Michael Aldrich” (Tkacz, Kapczynski, 2009). Promotional marketing of merchandise or services through the internet (referred by some as iMarketing, e-Marketing, or Webvertising) has become quite expansive; just as well, as moderated by regulations and quite monitored by authorities.
On the down-side, due to E-commerce or Internet Marketing weak minds are more easily manipulated and persuaded; it can influence one to quickly pull away from his or her standards and values, or else such a vast array of knowledge can discredit or diffuse its Educational value; but those unfortunate qualities are just a sad reality of humanity. Nonetheless, focus on the chicanery: Throw the word “Fraudulent” in front of any of these terms (E-commerce, Web Marketing, Online Marketing, or Internet Marketing), and then that specificity goes into a different shade of this still-recent evolutionary flip-side: the effrontery of this retail base.
Establish a rule, and crime will establish away around it:
This essay will first pull focus on the major types of mass-marketing fraud. Advance-Fee Fraud Schemes, Auction and Retail Schemes, Business Opportunity/”Work-at-Home” Schemes Online, Credit-Card Interest Reduction Schemes, Inheritance Schemes, Lottery / Prize / Sweepstakes Schemes, Online Sales Schemes, “Romance” Schemes, Bank and Financial Account Schemes, Investment Opportunities, and more as discovered within the U.S. Department of Justice webpage (Washington, D.C.). Here are the principal categories that each of these schemes fall into:
Based on data from law enforcement and regulatory authorities such as the Internet Crime Complaint Center and the Federal Trade Commission, mass-marketing fraud schemes generally fall into three main categories: (1) advance-fee fraud schemes; (2) bank and financial account schemes; and (3) investment opportunities.
All spam messages, which are defined as “disruptive messages, especially commercial messages posted on a computer network or sent as e-mail” (Random House), otherwise “one or a series of uninvited email messages advertising money-making schemes, pornography, or sales of any kind” (Collins English Dictionary), are all based around one of these three types of fraudulent intention. This fraudulent activity, accordingly, has already gained titles by which to distinguish their singular illegality or greater (cliquey) illegal intent.
And as a result…
Perceptions and values have shifted. The Internet spawns a much broader scope of facts and figures, and even guidance, that have become more freely available. Even though it can seem too laborious, excessive, and intimidating, human growth has already evolved into what we will become through E-commerce and Internet Marketing. This follows the chicken-egg concept: did society create E-commerce and Internet Marketing, or has E-commerce and Internet Marketing created what society has become? There’s a great and thought provoking rhetorical question for any intellectual gathering.
Further, the internet grants confirmation of personal values by giving the individual time to focus in on him or herself, do a double-take, and then confirm, elaborate more on, or revise these beliefs. In other words, allows students time to imagine, anticipate, reflect, deliberate, consider, meditate, contemplate, muse, and ruminate (cogitate or ponder); necessary time to stop and think.
Indeed, this Information Age indeed has its benefits, first individually and then socially. The Internet has become any and every students’ most benevolent study guide. Moreover, since favorable and elaborate information is discovered to readily reinforce and further current knowledge, personally builds a stronger character base within each student. That is, elaborate personalities are quickly and more efficiently able to be formed due to these digital instruments. Therefore, since business revolves around education as strongly, this avenue of marketing can only set the stage for many additional avenues for sales.
This rapid technological shift also brings with it rapid sociological acculturation. Concerning to the underdeveloped nations, isolated societies are a thing of the past and will continue this process of acculturation; Darwinism at work here. Though these indigenous communities do confront this adaptation and acculturation with much hostility and anguish, these weaker societies eventually acceptingly coincide with this acculturation. Whether this is considered morally wrong or pragmatic and just does not apply here. Agree or disagree, this is how evolution has continuously occurred.
Within this previous century and a half, quite a progressive imbalance in the exchange of wealth started the industrial revolution. Until now, economic power began and has remained within these industrialized nations. This digital age has started to even out this disparity. Wealth has been concentrated mostly in the northern hemisphere, namely Europe and North America. Jurisdiction of manufactured goods and production lines, right alongside international trade, started centuries ago to indicate that inhabitants of these nations live more luxurious lives; this means that these people currently live longer lives; but this also entails that by working closely together, especially within the more closely woven communities of these continents, humanity stands as a synonym for benevolence and the internet has been the key to open the door of truly diversified educational acceptance. This demonstrates how wealth and understanding creates greater unification and compassion, while fear only alludes to the development of stronger and more elaborate, separatist fears.
In an article on the Digital Moses Confidential website (http://www.dmconfidential.com), Jason Hahn examines how the benefits of E-commerce and Internet Marketing have begun to economically even or level the metaphorical playing field worldwide. Considering the yin-and-yang relationship of the supply-and-demand within this global phenomenon, Hahn describes how “mobile device users in developing countries are more eager to access content and advanced features than their more developed counterparts, especially the U.S.” (Hahn, 2012). Now that the world has slowly started to climb out of this unprecedented world-wide economic recession (the previous nine-months to a year), a shift in global politics is seeing revolutionary changes within even the political systems with the lowest amount of funding:
The illogical findings seem to show that consumers in more developing countries are willing to overlook flaws in communication shortcomings if they are given advanced access in other peripheral areas of service, such as mobile banking capabilities.
Director of FAME [Forum to Advance the Mobile Experience], Dave Murray, says this is the case in India. “The idea of a lack of infrastructure goes beyond communications, lack of infrastructure in banking, commerce, and entertainment, which is leaving users in developing countries to rely more heavily on mobile devices.”
That point from Dave Murray, combined with a hypothetical concern of another author, B. David Ferrel, really forces us to do a double-take on the words rely, infrastructure, banking, commerce, and especially communications. Regarding those charged electrons and protons particles from which humans discovered electricity years back, in his article on the various predictions that have come about from a fear of other predictions, Ferrel makes a solid point about human dependency on electricity.
This dependency is especially heightened, now, during this Digital Age. Most predictions are that humanity has existed for around 160,000 years; use of an electromagnetic force in the form of harnessed electricity was discovered and has been developed and then marketed throughout nearly this previous century and a half. Since humanity formed and has now trained these manufactured or synthetic (and digitized) electronic instruments to delegate all of our professional, business, commercial, retail and wholesale, and social inter-workings, maybe these 2012 predictions by Nostradamus (1503-1566) and by the Mayan empire (roughly 800-1500 AD) can be seen to be based on another prediction of human existence:
All this noise about the world ending in 2012… [due to the fact that] now we have all grown so dependent on one electrical measure or another to communicate or make purchases, watch this perceived or speculated fear actually come about when those magnetically charged particles see a shift from the North to the South Pole in December. Then we’d definitely see an end to the world-as-we-know-it.
Indeed, this takes the reader for quite a turn; and, ironically, humans have grown reliant on the consistency of an alternating energy source. Imagine what humans would do if we were to face a shift in poles. Only then, had the magnetic pull shift and force electricity to be drawn toward the opposite pole (celestial pole or magnetic pole), would we truly understand the dependency that humans have become on electricity. Just as ironic, of course, would be the curse of that prediction actually taking place during a time, finally, that humans have figured how to enable world-unity and begin to narrow the bridge between economic classes by collectively building an ironclad infrastructure.
Recorded history has taught us all how to better prosper just as well as the flaws or shortcomings to avoid. Again, fear only alludes to the development of stronger, more elaborate fears, and spite. On the opposite end, wealth creates greater understanding, social and familial unification, compassion, and forgiveness.
To digress from this philosophical stance, seemingly further forecast the divinity of humanity, and how this E-commerce and Internet Marketing explosion will be the “perfect” irony to our perfection of the human race, the humane efforts set into play with that aids these third-world nations have been evolutionary. This individualized retail shift through mobile devices that the world has seen, concerning a person or family as opposed to corporate or group purchases, has been the strongest shift thus far. From Michael Aldrich through to the promotional marketing through the internet of today, has indeed become quite expansive and indeed will slowly continue to prosper globally.
