E-Commerce Business Setup, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 555

Essay

The business would be a buy-and-sell website where pre-loved things are to be sold. The operation would be much like that of Ebay but more personal with items offered at much lower prices. The source of the items would be enthusiasts of garage sales in the community. Instead of putting out their products out in the streets, the items would be posted online for general viewing and deal transactions. Notably, such operation would require a working website that is easy to navigate especially for novice computer users. Here are some of the functions that the website is supposed to perform:

a) Welcome note for the client with a short survey on how they found out about the website

This section shall allow the administrator to find out what the target market expects from the business and the website that it hosts. Relatively, from such surveys, the reaction of the market on what the business currently has to serve them with could be scaled and measured accordingly.

b) A presentation of segregated sections for product classifications

The products shall be segregated according to category which will allow the clients to navigate on the products that directly appeal to them thus making the shopping experience much easier and much efficient in responding to their demands.

c) A chat-system for support staff to provide assistance and respond to questions from clients

d) A safe transaction form that would provide the clients a chance to pay for the items they choose online

e) A tracking system for the shipping of the products bought by the clients

Considering the function that the website is supposed to take into account, it could be assumed that the budget for the overall startup of the project would be close to $150 dollars for the webhosting and programming services and a maintaining cost of $90 per month for the chat service and the money-transaction approval that the website needs to operate with. The reason for such rate of budget is because of the fact that the business is expected to be a small-scale startup. It is expected that the rate of payment and maintenance that would be used on the website as it grows would actually increase as well.

Amazon.com Data:

Amazon.com Data

From the data presented herein, it could be noted that the total current assets of Amazon.com [compared within three years] increases to at least 12% every year (Year of comparison: 2012-2011-2010). Meanwhile their total current assets amount to $32, 555,000 which is in par with their total liabilities of $24,363,000. Considerably, it could be observed that the company has all the capacity to respond to their respective liabilities for operation and other concerns including deferred payments of other expenses of the company. The same thing is expected to occur within the startup organization that is suggested within the first part of this presentation. Given that the organization would follow the steps towards business growth in the field of e-commerce, the same success obtained by Amazon.com is hoped to be achieved as well.
