Essay

There are people that have not adapted to the Ebook because they thought it was a fad that would go away. The marketing online was pushing EBooks as another tool to sale to the customer. However, the Ebook is much more than a fad. The Ebook helps the society with environmental issues, saving trees, and more convenient to use in the comfort of your home. There are millions of trees that are being destroyed to meet the needs of the population fascination with paper books. We have learned from the past that it’s hard to change the habits of the human race until it absolutely becomes necessary of a new technology forcing the changes. The iPad is the new technology that has readers changing to reading their books on this application. Conversely, it’s difficult to change an entire nation that loves the look and feel of a paper bound book.

Ebooks have changed the landscape on how society reads books. The world has the advantage of using the new digital publishing called Ebooks. We have new technology with the IPads and Kindleshowever, the do not have the same environmental impact of the Ebooks.A study released by the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) (2012),presented an  guesstimate the United States adds to the environmental waste by producing 1.5 million metric tons of paper and sends 8.85 pounds of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere(as cited Johnson 2).Ebooks is a great solution that can save the world from destroying more trees. The Ebooks can save millions of trees from destruction while following some environmental changes for the better. The world would benefit from reducing the number of trees destroyed each year while the Ebook solution helps everyone participate in saving the earth one book at a time. The United States and newspaper industry harvest over 125 million trees, and create over 40 million metric tons of CO2 each year. The USA consumption of paper is astronomical at 16 million tons of paper each year(Publishers Weekly 3). There are major benefits of changing the course of how the book publishing produces books. The Ebook publishing will no longer need to package the book with materials including no energy or cash cost with materials. The trickle-down effect of savings from less gasoline spent transporting the books. In addition, the money save the publisher from printing, warehouse storage of the many books produced. The reading experience has changed because the buyer can purchase an iPad or kindle online or in the store to improve the reading experience. That can access thousands of books in their database or subscription based. The book reader has to carry the iPad and kindle in a bag like an extra piece of furniture. In addition, a family of five could not afford the kindle. In addition, kindle does not embrace the reading experience because they skip the cover page of the book. The cover of the book has the character of the book providing important visual details and clues. The technology allows people to read their books on the cell phone or with an iPad but the Ebook can be read on all platforms and from the comfort of your home. The downloaded Ebook is yours in great condition for every while contributing to saving our environment.

The family can sit down to a computer download the best book of the month while relaxing in the comfort of their home. They can even download the Ebook to their phone to read while they are out to the grocery store or waiting for a doctor’s visit.Travel. If you’re on the go a lot, you know how heavy regular titles are, particularly if you intend to finish one book while you are out and need to bring another book with you. EBooks allow you to bring a whole library with you wherever you go. You can switch between titles with ease and the weight is lighter than a standard paperback. The paperback book takes up a lot of storage space that many companies spend thousands to store. The educational school system should be the first to adopt the Ebooks because they spend millions on recycling and storing out dated books in hugh warehouses. In the Ebook world is both easy and convenient to use without any storage space except storing the books on your computer.  The Ebook has change the way books have been sold in the industry. Some books are as high as 100.00 per book however, the Ebook can be $20.00 online which is easy to afford. In addition, the Ebook reader is free while the Ipad readers may cost. The e-book reader is very light and can fit into a person’s bag but the Ebook can be read anywhere, anytime and it saves the section you last read.In the past, if a family when on a long vacation they would take several books to load the travel bag. However, you can download hundreds of books at your leisure which means no extra luggage anymore. The Ebook is based on immediate rewards because you can download the boon immediately with seconds. The instant book meets our immediate gratification for reading a book we love or materials we need today not tomorrow. In addition, the Ebook can change the lightness or darkness which is better on your eyes. With the other solutions of paper your eyes get strained causing the reader to put the book down just to refocus.
