The status of illness for the client is the status of not being well. Perhaps due to the occurrence of some irregularities in an individual’s body system. Considerably, it could be noted that such irregularities could come from particular changes in one’s regulatory lifestyle or at least a shift on the supposed routine that one follows especially in relation to his personal health status.

In the client’s course of life, he was noted to have a regularly stressful job that makes it harder for him to completely eliminate health issues. Nonetheless, as he created and followed a particular routine of healthy work-outs and diet, he sees that it is the sudden change in considering these patterns that he becomes immediately ill several times.

God provides everything needed, but it is the man who needs to act upon the situation.

What is the sick role in your culture?

Sickness is often regarded by the client as a result of non-obedience to the basic rules that God provides for the sake of becoming and remaining healthy. The selfish desires of humans is what makes an individual sick.

Who is your God and how do you define your god in illness?

The client refers to his God simply as “the lord”. To him, while his God provides support to those who need curing, he cannot keep one away from suffering the consequences of wrong decisions that he might have made in the past, hence illness becomes a response to the wrong doings of a person. Yet, God himself provides all the necessary sources for one to get healed as desired.
