The American Medical Informatics Association

The “American Medical Informatics Association” abbreviated as AMIA forms a professional home base that offers a platform for leading informaticians to connect people, technology as well as information using data. Scientists, students, clinicians, researchers and educators are among the most notable informatics professionals who make use of AMIA. Over 4, 000 professionals in health care have used AMIA as their center for action. The organization is an authoritative and unbiased source in health care industry and informatics community. Members of AMIA are dedicated in transformation of health care through the use of health and biomedical informatics, education as well as science (Carty, 2001).

The American Health Information Management Association

The “American Health Information Management Association”, AHIMA is a professional and nonprofit organization with a mandate of offering assistance to professionals working in health care industry in the course of management of health information. The principle objective of AHIMA involves providing the best quality of health care for the benefit of the public. AHIMA represent over 64, 000 management professionals in health information working in health care industry (Carty, 2001).  AHIMA has a mandate of promoting professional development among members by means of educating them, certification as well as lifelong learning thus enhancing health information of the highest possible quality for the benefit of healthcare consumers, provider, and entire public as well as other user of health information (McNeil, et al. 2006).

American Telemedicine Association

 American Telemedicine Association also called ATA, which was founded in 1993, is an international resource leading in this industry in advocating for promotion of sophisticated remote medical technologies application in health care institutions. ATA has a mandate of full integration of telemedicine in to the systems aiming at improving the quality and enhancing affordability as well as equity in international delivery of health care (Carty, 2001).  ATA mission aims at promoting professionals and improving equitable as well as ethical delivery of health care in the entire telecommunication as well as informed technology. The headquarters of ATA is based in Washington. Individual people, companies and health care institutions are free to join ATA as member with the aim of deploying and promoting telemedicine internationally.

HIMAA

The “Health Information Management Association of Australia” also called HIMAA is an important professional body comprising of professionals in Health Information Management, HIM in Australia. HIMAA has offered its services to HIM profession since it was founded in 1949 (Booth, 2006). The contribution of HIM professionals in health outcome in addition to health care systems delivery with the application of best practices for Health Information Management is clearly appreciated in this industry (Bickford, et al, 2005). Clinical coders, CCs and health information managers, HIMs are the two recognized occupations affiliated to HIMAA. CCs and HIMs are the holders of in information systems that are paramount in integrating the patients records as well as a smooth flow of efficiency in funding coupled with effectiveness of improving patient care.

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society

“Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society” also called HIMSS is a cause-based nonprofit organization. The focus of HIMSS is delivery of international leadership to achieve optimum application of IT alongside management systems to improve healthcare. HIMSS was established in 1961 with its headquarters in Chicago and more office located in Asia, United States and Europe (McNeil, et al. 2006).  The membership of HIMSS has grown to over 38, 000 with approximately two thirds of member working in governmental organizations, nonprofit organizations and health care providers (Booth, 2006).  The membership of HIMSS also includes over 540 corporate members and over 120 not-for-profit organization sharing a common mission.

IMIA

 “International Medical Informatics Association” also called IMIA, is a global body for biomedical and health informatics. The mandate of IMIA is offering expertise as well as leadership to multidisciplinary community focused on health together with policy maker in attempts of transforming healthcare to match the global vision of enhancing health delivery to global population (Booth, 2006). IMIA is a bridge organization between constituent organizations and members. The primary role of IMIA involves the use of information technology and science in medical research, bio and health informatics and health care (Bickford, et al, 2005).  The future prospects of IMIA involve bridging the knowledge gap through provision of support in medical research in developing countries.

Conclusion

To my opinion, American Health Information Management Association is the most useful organization because the primary goal in this organization relates to knowledge proviion, resources as well as tools that play a vita; role in advancing professional practice in health information  thus improving the standards in  quality healthcare delivery.
