A direct fee system is a situation where the health care scheme where patients pay directly for the services they acquire at the hospital, for example paying physicians. The insurers also pay directly for the services their clients access to health care systems. Direct fee system is favorable for the people with money and can afford to pay for the services they acquire at the health center directly. The system favors high-class people because they can provide cash at any time of the season compared to low-class men who struggle and use all they get for their basic needs (Popa, & Bochi?, 2015). Direct fee system disadvantages low and middle-class men who cannot afford to pay directly to acquire health care services.
Direct fee system promotes inequality because it does not generalize access to health care services. Individuals in high rankings acquire improved medical services because they have money to pay for the services they obtain. In this system, the quality of healthcare systems is affected by the money spent by the client; higher payment amounts to an improved health system. Individuals without cash acquire low-quality health services or even fail to gain the services due to lack of money to pay for the services. Individuals from high class benefit more from the direct fee systems because they have money to pay the hospital and the physicians.
Top class individuals acquire health services at the best health institutions because they are not straining to raise money. However, the direct fee system disadvantages middle and low-class individuals who do not have money to pay for the healthcare services. They die due to sickness because they have no funds to pay to acquire health care services. They get little and inadequate medical care, and they may end up succumbing to the illness. Besides, middle and low-class Individuals Middle and low-class individuals struggle to raise their basic needs, and they have no money to pay for healthcare services. They have little or no saving that can take care of their health services and they end up suffering due to lack of better health care services.
Most adult people are employed and not insured because their organizations do not offer the coverage. Lack of insurance puts the health of an individual at risk because they acquire poor and limited health services. Individuals who are not insured lack regular access to manage their health conditions, for example, HIV infections and hypertension. They do not receive screening for different ailments such as screening test for cancer and this delays diagnosis of the disease (Luck, Riedel-Heller, Luppa, Wiese, Köhler, Jessen, & Prokein, 2014). Delayed diagnosis results in premature death because the disease slowly attacks the individuals without medical services. Besides, uninsured people receive fewer diagnostic services after a heart attack or traumatic injuries leading to higher death risks even while at the health institution. Reduced access to health services for uninsured people risks their life because of the low-quality services the physicians give them.
Health care service provision should not be for the generation of profit. The government should set aside some amount from revenue collection to provide health care for all its citizens. Some of the members of the public earn low salaries that cannot cater for health care services. Such individuals suffer when healthcare provision is for profit because they have to pay to acquire the services. Due to lack of money to spend to receive health services, financially challenged people to end up suffering due to ailments and may end up dying.
