Essay

Commute is one of the main criteria for Ken because he wants to live at home, take classes, and be able to work and volunteer as a firefighter. As such, the commute for Ken must be under and house by bus so that he has enough time for fulfill all of his obligations and pastimes. Tuition costs is another criteria that must be met because Ken does not want to incur too much debt. Finally, as a result of his bipolar diagnosis, class size is important to him. He wants a school that has smaller class sizes so that he can better focus on his studies rather than being distracted.

In this narrative, the plausible schools for Ken to attend include New Jersey City University (NJCU), Georgian Court University, and Ocean County College.
For each of these schools, it is not possible to ascertain how far each campus is from where Ken lives because no exact address of Ken was provided. However, the other criteria for each can be explored in order to render a decision on which school best fits Ken’s criteria. NJCU  has high tuition costs for full-time students, which fails to meet one of Ken’s criteria of low costs to keep debt at a minimum. Tuition and fees for Kenw ould be over $5,500. However, they do offer a vast array of financial aid packages in order to make it affordable for students to attend. Financial aid, however, was never discussed as a viable option in the narrative to take into account regarding tuition costs and fees. The average class size at NJCU is 19 students per class, which is fits the small class size criteria for Ken in order to avoid getting easily distracted. Georgian Court University is a highly touted school that is extremely costly in comparison to the other choices. This year tuition and fees total $31,688. However, class size is diminutive because of the low overall undergraduate enrollment, which satisfies one of Ken’s criteria of small class sizes. Ocean County College offers a quality education with minimal tuition costs and great financial aid packages. He would pay less than two hundred dollars: $109.00 tuition, $19.00 college/student fees, and $12.50 technology fees. In addition, the class sizes are kept small in order to enhance the education of students through a manageable professor to student ratio and top-quality, caring pedagogues. This school seems to fit the criteria of Ken the best when compared to the others with regards to his criteria.

Ken plans to apply for admissions to Ocean County College during the next round of admissions in order to place him in a better position to get promoted within the local fire department.
