Identification
Positions and the powers to exercise authority in an organization are arranged in hierarchical levels according to importance and degrees of responsibilities (Verma 100) (TPM 11, ¾) These positions and powers are also arranged in ways that adhere stringently to legal provisions and regulations (TPM 11, ¾) . Authority to manage is given after judging a staff member’s performance based on discerning the competencies of a staff member’s accountability willingness and determination to put forth the best performance he/she can ever perform (TPM 11, ¾) .-historical development details
The most important type of leadership in any organization is influence-based leadership, particularly in organizations which cater to project-based services (TPM 11, ¾) -issue. Exhibiting coercion and pressure on leaders to adhere to influence-based leadership to be better assured of best leadership performances that may be exhibited is usually not the feasible and effective method to use in order to produce the best leaders in an organization (TPM 11, ¾)-issue . Most of the time, it is better to disseminate advice and encouragement only, and just allow the leaders to realize on their own the effectiveness of the usage of influence-based leadership-strategy.
Effective leadership skills are dependent upon the effectiveness leaders carry on individual and group interactions within the work premises (TPM 11, ¾)-strategy. Cooperativeness and smooth working relations are very imperative in carrying out these interactions successfully. Good rapport among colleagues supplements the success of the implementation of these interactions.
Ineffective leadership skills can ultimately affect the overall performance of the organization’s leaders (Document View-Proquest). Flaws the leaders possess may easily be noticed by team members and sponsors of an organization, to the detriment of the leaders . Hence, stakeholder satisfaction is also detrimentally affected by the lapse of effective performance of the organization’s leaders
Effective capabilities when managing conflicts is very pertinent in being a successful organization leader (Document View-Proquest).-strategy Any leader who is weak and incompetent in managing conflicts would never be able to effectively contribute to the organization he/she works for. Instead, this leader would pose a liability to his company.
Ineffective performances of any employees are deemed as “red tapes” in any organization Red tape is defined as follows:
“Red tape has been correlated with negative organizational impacts, such as reduced services to clients (Scott and Pandey, 2000), and higher managerial alienation (De-Hart Davis and Pandey, 2005)” (De Hart-Davis 2).
Analysis
Empire Precision Plastics strives to keep their clients happy by providing them with high quality products on time, and avoiding any delays (“Empire Precision Plastics” 1). Through time, as customers became inclined to sell their products at a faster pace, they required Empire to provide their orders to them at a quicker deadline (“Empire Precision Plastics” 1).
The company’s management has noticed that they need to devise a more effective method of mold design since it is a very complex and highly pertinent part of producing plastic products (“Empire Precision Plastics” 1).The management team has realized that the inscription of mold particles in 3D CAD and then structuring them on the screen is not working effectively in producing high quality products for the customers (“Empire Precision Plastics” 1)- Is the organization’s strategy producing satisfactory results? Why or why not?
Empire upgraded its mold design strategy to NX Design and NX Mold Wizard (“Empire Precision Plastics” 2). Mold Wizard is described as follows: “Mold Wizard is an optional knowledge-driven automation module, fully integrated with the NX CAD/CAM/CAE system. It captures the expert knowledge of mold designers to deliver a fast, step-by-step approach to mold development” (“Empire Precision Plastics” 2).
Mold design speeds up the process of geometrically assembling parts and structures (“Empire Precision Plastics” 3). Hence, it speeds up the production way faster than it used to be (“Empire Precision Plastics” 3). In turn, they are able to generate more satisfied customers who stay loyal to them due to the excellent services they are able to receive (“Empire Precision Plastics” 3).
The company no longer gets stuck in creating finished products in the old-fashioned geometric ways (“Empire Precision Plastics” 3). Instead, they are able to show the industry they are one of the best companies which can ever be trusted due to their determination to provide the best possible services to their customers and eliminate ineffectiveness in delivering these services- What competitive forces does the organization face? How is it responding to these forces? If it isn’t responding, why?
I feel that the company has overlooked to come up with a plan to conduct massive customer feedback surveys about the satisfaction customers get from the modifications the management has implemented on their services. By doing so, the company would go even further to provide even better services and retain more numerous clients.
Recommendations
The following are the recommendations I would suggest for the management members of Empire Precision Plastics to take in order to better effectively use the Mold Wizard program:
- Conduct training sessions for the staff members in the form of workshops in order to enable them to be more knowledgeable in using the program.
- Keep themselves up to date to the latest developments and advancements in the program.
- Make the staff members realize all the more the importance of using this program in order to improve the status of the organization in the market.
- Advertise the usage of the program to customers in order to keep them up to date the efforts being exerted by the management of the company in providing them high quality products in as fast quick turnaround time as possible.
- Keep the staff members updated in any innovations in the program the manufacturers come up with every now and then.
- Exert initiatives in implementing and developing the program themselves even when the manufacturers do not do so.
- Monitor the progress of the usage of the program by the staff members to ensure accuracy and competency of usage.
The management of Empire Precision responded effectively to the crisis their organization was facing when the customers were demanding quicker turnaround time in receiving their orders. They innovatively came up with the idea of using the Wizard and NX programs in order to satisfy their customers. The management team was able to efficiently study this program to ensure it would be successfully influential in fixing the slower turnaround times of delivering the products to the customers. They did excellently in consulting with professional advisors in how to better use the programs.
Factors affecting effective communication between building clients and maintenance contractors are the following:
- Old fashioned communication tools (e.g., no online communication tools, etc.).
- Ineffective communication skills of maintenance contractors which they exhibit to customers when the need arises to explain the procedures involved in the Wizard and NX programs.
- Unwillingness of maintenance contractors to be more accommodating to customers’ inquiries. By doing so, customers are left baffled and get the impression contractors are not friendly.
- Any unforeseen circumstances which may temporarily cut off the communication between contractors and clients (e.g., electricity outage, storms, earthquakes, etc.).
- Lack of necessary communication tools. This may happen, but only rarely.
Observations made when examining effective and ineffective transformational project leadership:
Effective Leadership
- The leader is motivated to work so much so that he/she does not let personal problems in life affect his/her job performance.
- The leader keeps an open communication line with the staff members so that problems would be detected early and solved.
- The leader constantly strives to formulate ways to improve his/her performance at work whenever he/she can. The leader never settles for anything less as much as possible.
- The leader does his/her job out of willingness, and is not doing it forcibly.
- The leader is able to empathize with the customer’s plight. Therefore, he/she becomes more motivated to perform at his/her best.
- The leader strives to make great contributions to the company whenever the opportunities arise.
Ineffective Leadership
The leader relies excessively on being told the things to do to effectively manage the organization as he/she lacks initiative.
Methods Of Managing Conflicts and Team Effectiveness:
- Constantly try to solve the conflicts without going into panic. The more people get stressed out, the more they are not able to solve the problem.
- Do not be hesitant in communicating any concerns you may have.
- Be honest as much as possible when communicating about the conflicts when the need arises.
- Do not be afraid to show your weak sides when discussing any conflicts. Sometimes, being open in showing your weak sides may actually aid others in trying to suggest ways for the dilemma to be resolved.
- Take the conflicts as challenges which can make you stronger and a better person. In doing so, you would be better in solving the conflicts.
- Take criticisms in conflicts with a positive attitude even though they are disseminated negatively.
- Give high considerations to advice given by superiors. They are the people who are in the industry for quite some time. Therefore, their advice should be taken with high regard.
- Develop more open social relations when dealing with colleagues.
- Be more cooperative when tackling difficult projects and situations.
- Be more considerate for others’ opinions and views. Avoid biases and discriminations. Treat your colleagues as you would want to be treated.
