Electronic Health Records in the Greek National Health System, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 358

Essay

It is essential to analyze health care policy to determine how these decisions will shape our nursing practice environment. To gain a thorough understanding of the information presented, it is first necessary to conduct a literature review to determine the basis for policy decisions (Kitson et al., 2013). Determining the context of a situation will better allow individuals to implement these decisions. Furthermore, it is necessary to determine how the policy will impact individual nursing practice, the practice of the medical staff, and practice of medicine in the nation as a whole. It is important to consider that policy decisions are not made in a manner that will impact only the individual. These policies will trigger complex interactions that could be understood better by analyzing background knowledge and the basis for the policy change.

To support a growing knowledge of health care policy analysis, it is important to consider some of the techniques that are currently being used in practice. One of the most important indicators of the need for policy change in the modern health setting is due in part to the information retrieved from electronic health record systems (Emmanouilidou & Burke, 2013). This data informs practice in a manner that has not been possible in previous years. As a consequence, world governments are now more informed about the health of their citizens and are able to make better decisions about health policies and initiatives that continue the shift towards effective care. It is also important to remain in communication with health care administration about possible changes to determine how this will impact individual practice. Overall, it is important for health professionals to become accustomed to constant changes in the care environment and to put forth an effort to adjust to these changes when they are implemented.
