Consumers buy goods not only because they want them or need them, but because they believe that they are getting an item that is truly worth their money. Consumers buy some electronics and use it then the natural warranty provided with the purchase expires and then the product does not work anymore. The consumer either has to pay for whatever repair or they have to replace it. For some this is no easy task because they have saved long for that purchase, but if there was some kind of program that would ensure that when the natural life of the equipment was expired the company would repair the product to where it is fully functioning, the consumers would benefit from that, they would most likely be willing to pay more at the time of purchase to cover such a program.
When a consumer buys a product like a television and it says it has a life span of twenty years, at the end of those twenty years the manufacturer should update the television and replace any parts that could be worn out or out of date so the television can still have a substantial life and be up-to-date. The manufacturer of the said television could provide this service to help consumers, lower the cost of buying a new television. The manufacturer would obviously need to cover the cost and they could do this at the register when the television is purchased.
If this was an automatic thing then more people would see the purchase of something like a television not such a problem, they would most likely enjoy the benefit of knowing that the end of the natural life span of the said item that it would be serviced and brought up-to-date. The manufactured could charge around 15% of the purchase cost to cover the eventual servicing and that is a comfortable percentage that most people would not mind paying because they will assurance that the item will be serviced and made to be in working condition. People will be willing to spend a little more just to have the peace of mind that the company is looking out for their best interest.
