The Landmark Legal foundation

This excerpt is based on the public policy on legal elements of protecting human rights in the society. The initiative in this juncture is represented by the Landmark Legal Foundation. The decision to choose the Landmark legal foundation program is heavily based on my interest to ensure that the rights of people in the society are respected and promote the spirit of transparency and accountability within the public offices to ensure effective use of the public resources for the development of the society. I am a civil activist who has enormous interests in ensuring that there is equality and transparency y in the public offices. I currently work for Rights Action League which a Public Watchdog organization that ensures all the activities of the officers in the public officers is transparent and respect the fundamental human rights.  In my organization, I work as a legal coordinator, whereby I have the sole responsibility to ensure that all the legal causes pursued by the organization must be given a proper follow up.

The drive to choose the Landmark Legal foundation was rooted on the experience that I have in the legal practice and my passion to ensure that there is accountability and transparency in the public offices.  The basic objective of my program is to ensure that there is enhanced confidence of the citizens in the public offices and promote the respect for human rights. The Landmark Legal Foundation ensures conservation of the environment and supports the educations sector by filing legal grievances on issues that are deemed harmful to the development of the sector. The foundation therefore ensures that there is public and environmental accountability.

Public Policy and Agenda Setting

The Landmark Legal foundation traces its history to 1976 when it was started as a national legal center for to protect the interests of the public. Landmark has its offices in Virginia and Missouri under the leadership of Mark Levin.  The organization ensures that environment, education sector and individual rights are respected to foster prosperity in the nation. The organization has been known for confront the government and other offices of public interests to transparency.  It also protects the rights of free enterprises in the nation. The organization has received considerable applauses for ensuring that the government’s the governments funding on non-profit entities is significantly reduced. It efforts have been acknowledged in the education sector where the entity has managed to ensure that the national union of teachers does not mismanage its funds. The organization has also been commended for its efforts to ensure that the labor sector through the labor unions respect the rights of industrial workers. Parents with children in the schools have also praised the organization for ensuring initiating legislations aimed at ensuring that the children in private schools get equal funding like their colleagues in the public schools, the initiative has also been extended to cover children in home schools and other avenues of learning. The organization works with other government entities to ensure that the legal complaints filed against public entities that are accused of frauds and infringement on human rights appear before the court and defend their stake in the court. This enables it to promote element of equality and a good initiative towards the war on corruption.

Public policy and establishment

The establishment of The Landmark Legal foundation was driven by need to ensure that human rights are respected and to ensure proper management of the public funds in public entities. The organization has managed to propose legislations which have been put into law to conserve the environment. The organization serves groups that range from the local level to the national setting.  The Landmark Legal foundation serves interest of various groups ranging from children at school, parents, teachers and the society at large. These groups have successfully assisted the entity in carrying out its operations for the society, for instance The Landmark Legal foundation work with the community based organizations and volunteers to ensure environmental conservation. In some federal states, the organization work with environmental clubs to report cases of environmental pollution by manufacturing firms and other organizations that produce products that are harmful to the environment. It also works with parents who have children in both public and private schools to ensure that the allocation of funds to children is done in an equitable and transparent manner. The organization also ensures that rights of industrial workers are respected. In this case the organization work with groups such as Association of Employers, labor unions and the various authorities that are concerned with the subject of labor to ensure that employees of the industrial sector get a good compensation for the effort that they contribute in the organization. This can be compared to the organization which I work for which is Rights Action League, which depends on other organizations and other people in the society to ensure that human rights are protected and respected. It has remained as one of the custodians of the human rights in the United State.  The groups of interest, the government and other stakeholders have the responsibility to ensure that the organization promotes the element of public and environmental accountability for the benefit of the American people.

Rationale of the public policy and government participation

The main aim of public policy in this case is to ensure protection and respect of human rights. The policy ensures that public entities are held accountable on how they manage the public funds for the benefit of all the people in the nation. It pushes for enactment of legislations that are meant to promote the development of the education sector for the benefit of the parents and the children at schools. The element of government support is very important for efficient operations of the organization, for instance various government agencies assist the Landmark Legal Foundation to conduct investigations in situations of allegations of fraud and mismanagement of funds. The government entities also help the organization to file the cases and necessary funding for the pursuance of justice. The entity also lies on individuals who can provide information for it to file cases of fraud against the accused public entities (Steven, 2011).

Besides the government funding, the organization also relies on other private entities who are interested at ensuring that it achieves it goals and objectives.  The foundation has been able to stick to its purpose and has not been influenced by the private sponsors that fund its operations. It has managed to raise substantial financial budgets that are necessary for the operations, for instance at the end of last year the organization had a budget of over $ 1,200,000 (Steven, 2011).

The main reason that underlies the formation of The Landmark Legal foundation is to promote America’s belief on the elements of equality, liberty and free enterprise. The organization ensures that these noble values are achieved by monitoring the operations of the public entities to bring foster establishment of legislations that are deemed important to ensure equality and freedom of various individuals in America (Steven, 2011).

In conclusion, it is important to take cognizance of the fact that big public entities have emerged as major obstacles that hinder efficient and effective operations of Landmark Legal Foundation. Certain interest groups have become very powerful to influence the government and the judiciary in particular and hence hindering the achievement of the main aims of the organization (Steven, 2011).
