Email and Voicemail Monitoring, Essay Example

Pages: 1

Words: 340

Essay

When it comes to email and voicemail monitoring, it is important to consider the implications of these actions on behalf of both the employee as well as the company itself.  The majority of the considerations come from a legal implication.  It is difficult to determine whether a company has the legal right to invade a person’s privacy by monitoring emails.  However, employees must also be aware that the email address awarded to them is not their personal property and is actually owned and maintained by the company.  Due to this, I believe that email and Internet monitoring is important to ensure the safety and security of the information system and technological resources.  Viruses are now able to infiltrate a computer intranet without appearing through a standard virus scan.  The professionalism and security of a company comes well before the individual employee’s privacy.  Therefore, I would recommend that these employees understand the policies and procedures within their place of employment and take steps to keep their personal life and emails private from their professional life and emails.  Furthermore, I would recommend that management seek to protect the company and the integrity of the information system first and foremost and always work to never personally attack an employee or invade anyone’s rights within the company.

The Commission Report on 9/11 has many important foundations towards analyzing the attacks on 9/11.  The goals of the report are to “provide a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. It also includes recommendations designed to guard against future attacks” (GPOaccess.gov, 2010).  The report does a fantastic job of accommodating the needs of the diverse audience by analyzing the impact of the attacks and the variables for future attacks to prevent similar circumstances from reoccurring.  Furthermore, the use of subheadings and headings to organize the report are critical as users from multiple fields and backgrounds will be able to navigate through the information.
