Employer Branding Activity, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 650

Essay

The job advertisement presented is calling for those that are knowledgeable in the medical field, as a specialist for Human Resources. The position is based in Detroit, where it would work in under Blue Shield in a diverse organization. Within the job advertisement, the key elements that stands out includes the job title in bold, the job description, the list of requirements, the qualification needs, and the where and who the job is with. The job duties call for an individual that is experienced in developing new programs and practices to put in place in the organization. The picture presented in the job advertisement leaves a potential candidate to believe that they will be an organization that is both gender and culturally diverse, as they are all pictured lined up together as a team. This is also extenuated by their italic message at the bottom of the posting.

Just as a car salesmen would try to sell a sports car, the job brand is located as the first image the candidate would see. Plastered on the image is the brand logos for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and bolded across the photo is the words, “Blue Talent.” People that work in the HR, Insurance, and medical field, and even some that do not would immediately recognize the brand logos, and associate the job in some way with the organization. The highlighted portions of each section are also highlighted in blue, which will draw the reader’s attention to each section, and associate further with the brand. Although the Blue Cross / Blue Shield organization is not mentioned by name in the job advertisement, the placement of the brand logos, as well as the color of the dividing texts will lead the reader to associate the job and the organization in some way.

The job advertisement does a good job of providing a very large picture at the top of the advertisement to illustrate the type of organizational culture that the company has. This is seen by the lineup of individuals; that majority differ in age, sex, and race. This will lead the potential candidate to believe that the job will be at a diverse organization, where no one is discriminated against. This is also supported by the bottom statement that is mentioned in question 1. The picture also does a good job of showing a group of people smiling or laughing to indicate that this type of environment is normal, and the people genuinely enjoy working at the organization.

For a candidate that is looking to work in HR, this job advertisement does a good job of selling itself to a potential candidate. Not only does it associate with nationally known organization, through its placement of logos, but also illustrate an organizational culture that is accepting of people of different backgrounds, as well as highlight its focus on people. It provides a good environmental and social attraction to a candidate who’s personally could be a fit for the organization. For the HR professional, this is pertinent, and this job also helps place them in a leadership position where they can also help others develop leadership skills. Why could lead some candidates away because it doesn’t specify a salary, or give more information on the exact organization the position is with, which could deter serious candidates.

In improving this advertisement, I would include a summary about the organization, and how it is associated with Blue Cross / Blue Shield, so that the candidate is aware of how the relationship is formed. As well as provide salary information to help those serious candidates that are looking for jobs that meet their requirements for cost of living. Other improvements include, providing the organization’s employee benefits in order to attract experienced and qualified candidates. By placing the benefits, it helps for the candidate to answer why they should choose this job, and also entices higher qualified individuals in the HR fields.
