Essay

In educational environment the language is mainly considered as the content of instruction and medium of communication. The success of academic studies is directly dependent on the written forms and the proficiency in speaking power. This essay explores the composition of English classes required in Al Faisal University, Saudi Arabia (Mahboob, Ahmar & Tariq, 2014). The learning of English for Arabic international students is the most meaningful adjustments at that level. English composition classes are very important in universities especially for Arabs, as English is the second language in educational curriculum in Saudi Arabia.

In Al Faisal University, the Arabic students do face difficulties in learning English language and it is really important to discover the strategies through which the management of university should hire some professional teachers and professors who can actually teach the proper composition of English with the requirement of the phrasing and their effectiveness on the whole sentence. (Smith, Larry & Abdulrahman, 2013).  This will help students to reduce the difficulty they are facing in learning English. As we understand that Al Faisal is an international university and the usage of English should be treated up to the standard of University level.

For Arabic students, the pronunciation in English is also a problematic thing to be understood. Capturing of different sort of accents, the way of describing and the correct usage of words can be seen as a major problem in the university. Words like ‘stupid’ are usually pronounced as ‘istobbid’ (Mahboob, Ahmar & Tariq, 2014). Even the use of conjunctions and commas is also another problem for the students of Al Faisal University (The major errors found in this university are the use of tenses, subject verb agreement and verb formation. The classroom itself doesn’t allow a venue where students can practice their communication skills in English. It is necessary to determine the difficulties which can create a positive impact in proficiency of English language among the students of Al Faisal University.

For Arabic students learning the English language are actually a phenomena which is mainly the requirement of globalization and it is now widely used in educational institution even in Arab countries It is the duty of Al Faisal University to make their students proficient in English language. The university should motivate their students to learn in the positive attitude towards English language as well as towards English speakers itself (Smith, Larry & Abdulrahman, 2013).
