Entry Paper to Masters of Public Health, Essay Example

Pages: 2

Words: 591

Essay

My desire to pursue a Master of Public Health degree has evolved over a number of years as I have recognized the critical nature of evaluating, assessing, and diagnosing disease and expanding wellness programs for individuals and families. The public health sector encompasses many areas and supports optimal health and wellbeing for all persons. Each area of public health is relevant to society because there are significant challenges in all communities which require these services. Public health represents an opportunity to diagnose and evaluate different types of diseases so that their impact on health is minimized. In addition, public health supports the ongoing development of wellness and preventative measures for individuals and families to promote optimal wellbeing. These objectives are critical to the success of healthcare practice in the 21st Century.

I have developed an interest in infectious diseases and wellness programs because these areas pose serious health concerns to the integrity of the general population. From this perspective, it is necessary to consider the various issues which plague communities, from influenza and AIDS to lack of preventative screenings and testing programs. From many different directions, there are significant threats to public health; therefore, these concerns must be evaluated more closely in an effort to produce successful outcomes and to preserve human health as best as possible. This field provides answers to some of the most relevant public health concerns and supports the development of new programs, tests, and educational programs to reduce the burden of public health concerns for local populations.

An advanced education in public health will provide me with the tools that are necessary to evaluate these concerns more effectively. Acquiring expert knowledge in this area will also enable me to engage with other experts and to address problems of local, national and global concern. These problems lay the groundwork for public health programs and initiatives that are designed to support populations and to reduce the impact of public health concerns. With a degree in public health, I will be prepared to work with others to make a difference in the lives of community members through various initiatives and programs that will provide much-needed access to programs and testing in local communities.

I believe that public health is one of the most significant concerns in the modern world, as far too many people do not have access to even the most basic healthcare services. Therefore, they struggle to survive and to experience a greater sense of wellbeing. However, public health knowledge and resources enable many individuals to become better educated regarding their own health and wellbeing. Public health serves as a platform for continued success and growth for the greater good of the population. With an advanced degree in public health, I will possess the knowledge and training that is necessary to become acquainted with local communities to address public health concerns. When public health is maximized, then fewer individuals do not suffer at the expense of a given disease or illness. In addition, prevention screenings and other factors contribute to the overall effectiveness of public health programs designed for local communities. As a future public health professional, I will strive to obtain knowledge and comprehensive training to engage other experts and community members using collaborative means to evaluate concerns and solve problems. I am committed to preserving the health and wellbeing of as many community members as possible, including children and adults; therefore, my pursuit of an advanced degree in public health is of critical importance to my career path and passion to preserve the health of all persons.
