The City of Boston is encountering various environmental problems, which are being tackled by various organizations to make sure a healthy and clean environment for its residents. Cleanliness of water, air, and land resources are a number of the areas where the associations have historically and presently focused their efforts, but fresh funding opportunities have lately surfaced in the areas of clean energy and climate change. Organizations and the municipality have started to implement programs that estimate to reduce their impact on the climate and environment through the use of clean power alternatives and effectiveness programs.

The economic and social situations of urban areas have enthused calls for renewal and redevelopment since the Industrial Revolution changed the economic base and spatial composition of UK cities during the subsequent half of the nineteenth century.
