Ethical Legacy to the World, Essay Example

Essay

Besides gaining knowledge, being in school gives me the opportunity to be involved in different activities that I believe assist in enabling me to make an impact to the world. Eventually, this betters the lives of other people around me. From my childhood days, I was extremely passionate about the nature and the environment in general, and this has been part of me ever since. Good enough, when I went to high school, I happened to join the environmental club.

Through this club, I took part in various activities that involved the general care and conservation of the environment. As a club, we took the initiative of doing community work within the city and its outskirts during the weekends. The work we did included draining trenches, picking up litter and removing filthy stuff from the various rivers near the city. Most people were not willing to take part in these activities. I learnt a valuable lesson that in life, many things have to be carried out, and it all starts with the making of that important decision. Therefore, I decided that whether I would be the only one doing so, I would ensure that I put a smile on the faces of people. I would do it irrespective of being given credit of doing it or not.

The conservation of the environment is significant in many ways, since it makes the living conditions of people much easier. Lack of a keen watch of the environment has led to the various effects of global warming and so on. However, when people appreciate the environment and conserve it, it becomes conducive for living, and the destructive effects go down.

Ever since that time, we went on a mission of planting trees in various schools all over the country while at the same time mobilizing fellow students to embrace the idea of conserving the environment. With time, I realized that, through my speeches in various places, people have to understand the concept of environmental conservation and its significance. This is something I pride in since I have challenged a significant proportion of the leaders of today and tomorrow into conserving the environment, which is an asset to the future generations.

Even though at the time when most of the trees I have helped plant will mature I may not be around, what I am convinced about is the fact that if I had not done what I did in my lifetime as far as the conservation of the environment will have influenced somebody’s life.
