Pages: 1

Words: 313

Essay

Peter Singer said, “to live ethically means to think beyond our own interests and become one being with needs and desires of our own but to live amongst others who have the same needs and desires” (“Ethics and the Criminal Justice System”). Ethics is s moral philosophy concerned with what is right and wrong and how we should live. We should be able to make moral judgments of what is good and bad. Within ethics there are branches of mathematics which include reasoning and structure which are used to interpret the logical terms, The process of everyday life is full of choices because it expresses the absolute truth by which we ought to live and abide by rules to a certain extent. “They are generally reliable guides for normal circumstances.” (“Ethics and the Criminal Justice System”).

In ethics we rely on considered moral intuitions. We don’t know whether to trust our intuitions or not. There is simply one truth.  But are there any truths in ethics? The answer to this question is not straightforward. “(Truth in Ethics Truth in Science Different”).Expressivists think when we say that an action is wrong, we merely express a con attitude towards the action in question, we express no proposition capable of being either true or false. They believe we are simply expressing an attitude about something. There are many connotations to follow about what the truth and virtue is. The truth is the virtue of knowing right from wrong and following what you know right from wrong to be. Without the grounds of morals this world would be full of chaos and havoc and there would be no order. That is the sole reason for truth, ethic, values and the whole system of ethics by which we follow in the criminal justice system-a means for order.
