1. Identify the ethical issues involved.

The ethical issue in this case is the issue of the disclosure of the clients’ information. Dora identifies the potential clients from the hospital’s database and gives the details to her sister Janice. This is ethically wrong because the hospital should not give out the clients details to other third parties without the clients’ consent. The other ethical issue is Dora helping her sister in developing her business. Dora realizes that she can help her sister’s private escort service. This is ethically correct because it is right to help a person in advancing his/her business. Dora also should help her sister since she needs help in her business.

2. If you were Dora’s supervisor, should disciplinary action be taken? Why or why not?

Dora’s supervisor should take a disciplinary action against her. This is in regards to the disclosure of the clients’ information. It is ethically wrong for the hospital staff to give out the clients details to other third parties without the clients’ consent. Even though, Dora’s job entails finding resources to help the impaired, she should respect the client’s privacy. Dora should not have disclosed the patient’s information to her sister. Because what she did is ethically wrong, disciplinary action should be taken against her by the supervisor.

3. Is there an ethical way for Dora to “hook up” her patients with her sister’s escort service?

There are ethical ways that Dora could use in introducing the patients to Janice’s escort service. Dora’s job entails finding the resources in helping the impaired. As a result, Dora should formally approach the hospital management and introduce Janice escort services to them. Through this process, Dora and Janice can formally meet with patients, and they agree about the escort services to patients. By doing this, Dora will ethically hook up her patients to Janice’s escort services.
