Evaluating police strategies and police policy/making calling the police and police responses

During shifts, police officers have less time responding to crime cases and issues. According to the US department of studies, it was evidenced that police officers on shift sometimes delay responding to cases of crime (Spelman & Brown, 1984). The findings of the study revealed that only citizens are known to delay on reporting cases of crimes to the police. The Kansas City study revealed to the researchers the effect of rapid police responding to crime issues. Rapid police response is always associated to witness availability, citizen satisfaction, crime scene evidence and handling of the medical emergencies. Police on shift normally do not respond to cases of crimes due to delay of information from the public.

Police have to tell the citizens the needs or reasons to report early. The cost of reporting crimes should be minimal. Finally, the reporters should be guaranteed maximum security and secrecy by the police. Police emergency should be availed to everyone (Attunes, 1981).

Other proactive actions would be more efficient based on the nature of the crime. For instance, reporting of violent crimes may be risky to reporters since they may be killed by the culprits who obviously do not want their identities revealed. Therefore, proactive action of rushing to the scene and assuring the reporters of their safety is necessary and more efficient in this case (Attunes, 1981).

All police calls require responses. Despite the argument by Attunes (1981) that some of these calls are unnecessary based on his research, police calls should be replied immediately to avoid gambling since some of these calls are due to certain emergencies. Some calls are on traffic issues or from dependent persons.

Yes. Failure to respond immediately definitely has negative effects to the output of police officers. First, it kills the relations between police and the publics. Killing the relationship between the police and the public is equivalent to killing the crucial community policing that is important for efficient police operation and service delivery(John & Dennis, 2001).

Police outcome depends on how they relate to the public or conduct their functions. Delayed response definitely leads to negative influence of the police outcome. This is because in most cases, the outcome is doubtful since an arrest may not happen at the crime scene (Bayley, 2004).

Officers do not have enough time to engage themselves in self-initiated proactive activities. This is the reason why most calls to police are never picked or replied.

The main task or role of policy is reducing crime rate through the cooperation between the community and the police departments.

In a situation whereby there is a crime, the most important method is to notify the police very first repeatedly or many people should make the calls to make the police aware of the urgency of the calls. The definition of the scenario or problem should be made clear to the police.  Compared to Eck and Worden articles that suggest internal reforms within the police, it is obvious that policing involves the community and the police as well. Therefore, police should be called quite a number of times to make them believe that the matter at hand is serious and requires their immediate attention. Effective means production of the desired goal. Efficient means attaining of maximum productivity or goal using less effort. Equitable means fairness as described in the constitution. Equity defines the relationship between the public and the police.

the activity, which was implemented, was a quick response and operation to the scenewhere the crime took place after receiving calls from different people. The police officers were ensured that they arrived at the crime scene to arrest the culprits or secure non-distorted information from the people around.

The treatment was implemented and was successful in the first few months and instances

It was not successful for long-term since it became irritating and a bit hard making calls to police officers severally.
