The interactive leadership process, new health care systems, and leadership theories are some few sampled topics that the book covers. This essay outlines three attributes that the book above clarifies. Some of the attributes are opportunity existing for advance nursing practice, opportunities for nurses and lastly the prominence of nursing management and leadership roles (Finkelman, 2001). Health care environment is evaluated by the use of the above attributes.

Opportunities for nurses

As managers, in nursing it is vital to evaluate the Nurses opportunities, the existing opportunities for the advanced nursing practices and lastly the Nursing leadership and management roles. First by evaluating the opportunity of the nurses, it is advisable that the nurses are to stay on top of the new technology and practices. Here, the nurses get the opportunity for accessing everything new thing they learn (Manske, 1999). This increases the morale of the employees hence prompting the needed dialogue. In addition, the nurses have the ability and a chance to surround themselves with positive people so that they may shine (Finkelman, 2001). Lastly, nurses have an upper hand opportunity in the interaction process, where they tent to interact with several department as the leadership improvement, community outreach projects and performance improvement projects just to mention but a few.

Opportunities exist for advance practice of nurses

There are several existing opportunities for advanced nursing as per the book Leadership & management in nursing 4th edition. It is pertinent to heed what the authors have analyzed in the book. The analyst’s opportunities are as follows: system leadership and organization for quality improvement and thinking in a system related manner. Here, the nursing practice include direct care incorporated with the patients panel needs, a population that is targeted and broad community as well as a set of population. Another advanced opportunity for nursing is the analytical method and clinical scholarship for evidence-based practice. The hallmark of the doctorate education is mainly scholarship and research. Despite of the basic research being viewed as the most and first essential form of scholarly actions, there are alternative paradigms that surpass the discovery of new knowledge. Another notable advanced opportunity for nursing is the technology or information system as well as patient care for the transformation and improvement of the health care. Nursing graduates portray their ability and potential to serve clients by the knowledge of using the information system. Technology aids not only in the improving and supporting of the patient care and health care systems, but in the provision of the health care system leadership and academic setting. Lastly, another notable opportunity in the advancement of nursing as outlined in the book is the health care policy that is pertinent in the advocating for the health care (Manske, 1999). Here, it is worth to note that health care policies whether created by the actions of the government, decision making in institutions or organizational standards still creates a facilitating framework. In addition, the above impedes the ability of a health care in delivering the services and so providers are persuaded to engage in addressing health care practices. It is pertinent that the policy development creates a system that meets the constituted needs in a health care.

Nursing leadership and management roles are prominent

Leadership is one of the pertinent attributes that have been discussed in the book Leadership & management. Here, issues like changing the minds of people about infections and the previous held morals as the cause of disease being debunked for controlled and identified the cause of disability and illness as being germs are illustrated. The above is an attribute of leading and education that nurses posses. Further, the nurses should have a convincing heart to stand in for the sanitation of the community. This again is referred to as leadership and management roles according to the book. Here, the above is seen when a global initiative sprang up questioning the government to be responsible on the public welfare and general community improvements on supply of water, sanitation just to mention but a few alterations in situations that are alarming and can cause high mortality and mobility rates if not attended. Following the book, it is clear that nurses participated in the renewal of the social reforms. Thus, nurses commenced a new role of educating families in their homes as well as caring (Manske, 1999). More so, the nurses launched an initiative for decreasing diseases during the early 1900s, even though poverty was the main obstacle since targeted individual had limited choices. However, a link between social reforms and public health paved a way for the nurses to address disease and poverty issues caused by urbanization. To crown it all, nurses have shown an outstanding leadership and management positions by addressing the community and participation in voluntary services by visiting families in their homes; this is as per the information in the book. Therefore, on management point of view, the nurses have ensured rate of mortality and mobility is reduced by making the community aware on the infection of diseases. In addition, on the side of leadership, they have participated in fighting for the intervention of the government for the welfare of the people.
