Executive Summary
Purpose of the report
Ever After Catering Company is considering a proposed partnership with either of the following two wedding planning companies – Giorgio Wedding Planner and Perfect on The Day. The objective of this report is to provide a comparative analysis of these two Companies based upon three main criteria: (1) The current clientele (2) The Products and Services and (3) The Financial situation. It is anticipated that this due diligence will help the Board of Ever After Catering Company in the strategic decision making process.
Reason for writing the report
The President of South Ridge Bank (Winn Nelson) has asked the Company (Ever After Catering) to compile this report. The Bank needing the report in order to obtain authorization for requesting funding in order to support the proposal. Equally the Bank needs to see that the Company is following a professional line of responsibility in the production of business plans to support growth plans involving mergers and acquisitions. The Bank’s due diligence looking after the Companies responsibility to its shareholders and investors.
Methods of investigation
Mario Cardona, the President of Ever After Catering, interviewed management and staff at both of the wedding planning companies. This form of empirical research provided an accurate basis of information from both wedding planning companies. In addition, he interviewed clients of both Companies, analyzed the financial statements and evaluated the marketing materials. From this he created a Balanced Scorecard of both Companies, thereby providing a side by side comparison of the companies over four key areas: Financial, Business Process, Learning & Growth, Customer.
Conclusions and recommendations
After completion of the comparative analysis , the recommendation is for a partnership with Perfect on the Day. The latter demonstrated a stronger Financial capability and had a larger clientele. Although Giorgio Wedding Planner offers more comprehensive products and services than Perfect on The Day, Giorgio Wedding Planner has diversified too much and is facing financial difficulties. At this stage in our evolutionary growth we require a partnership with a stable profile, sound vision and strategy for the future and a reliable client base.
